Harrow 16+ 2022

Did anyone else apply for the Harrow entrance exam for sixth form? I'm trying to win a scholarship and bursary.
I sat the maths paper last Thursday.

Hey I'm applying, I'm taking biology, chemistry, economics and maths. What subjects are you taking? How was your maths paper btw? Was it hard?

Hi! I'm the same guy from the Eton Orwell award 2022 forum but I'll repeat what subjects I'm taking for other people: maths, further maths, physics, and computer science. I think I did quite well in the maths paper. I think I **may** have got a perfect score but I've probably made a silly error somewhere lol. I'm sitting my physics paper tomorrow and I don't feel very prepared but I'm hoping that it will be more problem solving based. Have you not taken any of the exams yet? When are you sitting yours?
I'm taking my bio and physics on the weekend, I haven't really prepped cause I had my mocks for those a few days ago so.... For the maths test, was there two papers cause online it shows there is. Paper 1 looks medium difficulty but paper 2 looks quite hard, like the UK Maths Challenge questions.

I found some past papers on the school's website but I don't know if these are for 13+ entrance or 16+ entrance....https://resources.finalsite.net/images/v1623317165/harrowschoolorguk/je7vwmlxdm1oiuwh29t0/Scholarships2020.pdf . Do you know by any chance?

Pretty certain those are 13+ papers.

I see. There were two sections in the maths paper.
Did you find any practice papers for your exams? I can't find the 16+ scholarship papers online, and I wanted to do some practice for Bio and Chem.

Oh yeah and also, because we are being tested, does that mean we were shortlisted in some way? I read something along those lines on the website.

Nah there aren't as far as I know. For most 16+ entrance exam it's quite hard to find any sort of past paper.

I don't think so. Can you send me the link to where it suggested that?

Was one significantly harder than the other? Like it involved complicated problem solving

Hmmm you might be right. Although, it could be possible that the wording is ambiguous and what they really mean is that people who are invited to take the assessments at Harrow are shortlisted. We weren't really 'invited' to take these first exams.

No it wasn't significantly harder. No where near BMO. It was basically just the harder questions on standard gcse papers. Without sounding arrogant, I'm not really sure how it was meant to differentiate stronger students from weaker but we shall see lol.
Oh phew that's a relief, cause once I looked at the 13+ papers they looked quite difficult for an 11 or 12-year-old to sit so I thought the 16+ papers would be extremely hard.

How did you prepare for the maths, further maths exam? What topics were your exams for maths, further maths on?

I didn't prepare for the maths and there is no further maths exam (at least not at this stage of the process). I do maths pretty much all the time anyways. But I guess just know your gcse content well and do stuff like UKMT challenges. The topics were literally just the bang average gcse maths stuff. If you're strong in maths and good at problem solving in stuff like olympiads it's really nothing to worry about. Good luck.
