Fish finger fan reviews his meals

It's that thread you didn't know you needed in your life until now
Nothing fancy on here, just bog standard meals reviewed after I've eaten them.

1- gross 10- very nice

We'll start with my lunch today and in typical style it was an Aldi beef in black bean sauce with egg rice ready meal and frozen spring rolls (as I said nothing fancy)

score= 7
It was alright and quite tasty ( cos I cooked it :yum:) , nothing special though but I would certainly have it again, quite filling for a lunch and was simple and quick to cook. although I did catch my hand on the oven :frown:

until the next meal time I remember to review...

Thank you  this thread will be the most exciting thing shaking on tsr…
14/10/21 dinner:

Drama unfolds in the fish finger fan household as the chicken hasn’t defrosted in time for dinner ( insert screaming noises here). A desperate search in the freezer for the back up plan results in finding a Cornish pasty. So Cornish pasty, peas and the wedges I was planning on having with the chicken it was.
Score= 6 literally the whole meal came from Aldi and it was alright but the pasty ontop of the wedges did get a bit stodgy. For dessert this was followed by a layer of strawberry jelly, topped with whipped cream, sliced strawberries and sprinkled which was quite nice providing you like strawberries.

Until tomorrow…
Finally found a decent thread on this site

Cornish pasties are one of my most missed British food. I can't believe it only gets a 6. Something wrong with your tastebuds dude :shakecane:

Don’t get my wrong I do love a Cornish pasty but these ones from Aldi just aren’t all that great. If you can get one from a bakery or something they are something else.
Apparently you can get ones that are half filled with meat and the other half has an apple pie filling in it

NGL I like the Ginster's ones better than supermarket own brands but I'll happily finish a 4 pack from Tesco.

Not sure I'd enjoy the one with apple. I had a pork & apple pasty from one of those specialist stores and it was just meh. The Ginster's one was better.

I like to make my own sometimes and they are really really really good. Just a pain in the ass to make.

Yeah definitely they Ginster’s ones are pretty good.

Pork and apple pasty sounds interesting.

Oooo homemade ones sounds good never had them before. Next time you make some you’ll have to send some this way, I’m not much of a baker

You don’t throw away the perfectly good bit of pastry on the end for “good luck” do you?

What about the artificial strawberry flavouring? (that tastes nothing like an actual strawberry)

Me too, I think the last time I had one was before 2010
Back in the day, they used to be £1, now you find them in Hyde Park for £2.90 :colonhash:
