It can be - there are usually around 15,000 applicants for 200 roles so you can reach the standards but not progress to the next stage. It’s good experience though

It’s hard to say, probably depends on the person… so I’ve been trying since 2015 since I graduated with my maths degree, so finally got on it 6 years later?

It’s competitive for sure. I enjoyed the verbal and the numerical tests. I always have found the judgement test hard. The video interview was good! The AC is challenging, but i guess it’s meant to be! I deffo didn’t think I’d been successful.

Good luck

I'm due to be starting as an O Generic Compliance Caseworker for HMRC in Liverpool so I may see you around the office or building . As for the TSP, I applied last year but I was unsuccessful so I'm planning on getting settled in my job and I may apply again in the future

I'm waiting on a start date for Liverpool as an O grade Generic Compliance Caseworker and it'll be good to see people around the office

Congrats! I love working for HMRC, I’m currently in that role!

My advice would be to still apply this year, don’t wait for the future, no one will hold it against you. If anything the band O caseworker role will just help you settle into life in HMRC, but the tax graduate is too good an opportunity to turn down and every time you apply you gain more experience.

It’s starting to get a bit busier but still one day a week for most people.
I’d still apply this year, it’s 12 months until you start and nobody minds if you get TSP. Your 12 months will give you an idea of the systems etc

Thanks, any tips for the Generic Compliance Caseworker role?

I've got a CSJ account and I graduated in 2020 so I could apply but I'm thinking at the moment that I'd like to get into the compliance caseworker role and pass my probation before applying for the TSP plus it'll give me a lot more to talk about at interview

It'll be good to get into an office and it's interesting that it's only one day in at the moment.

I'm thinking about applying but at the moment I'd rather wait for a start date and get into the compliance caseworker role before thinking about doing the TSP just so I've got a lot more to talk about at interview

Hi,

I'll probably apply for the TSP in future but I want to get stuck in as a caseworker first.

Good luck and hopefully you get through

Thanks and you should. I am a current EO, did get offered a O position off of the first application in Leeds, but the one I took, where I am now was just more money and no travel costs, although some days wish I took the HMRC role.

If you don't mind me asking what scores did you get and do you know if all applicants progress to the VI at the same time or do some people get through staright away if they do well?

Hi,

It's my first time applying - I am currently working towards my CTA and will have completed it by January 2023.

I don't suppose you could shed some light on the application process and what is involved at each stage? I have done a few of the example tests online and seem to have done well but can't seem to find anything on the VI and AC.

Thanks

If I remember correctly from last time, its just on hold now til application window closes, got better that 88% on SJT, better than 73% on numerical and 66% on verbal (worst score I have ever got on that one) lol also applying with reasonable adjustment......I think it will be while til invites for VI go out??
