Just leavining a comment as a first year student incase anyone has questions about Newcastle.

Oh great, thank you so much! Which course are you studying? What’s campus life like and are the people nice? Do you like the city?

Dentistry. I've only been here for a month but I'll try my best to answer. The medical school is a bit disorienting and I still get lost in there sometimes when lectures are in person. I've been in the lab once and they were huge. There are a lot of events in the SU but I haven't tried the nighlife yet. People here are a lot friendlier than London and the city itself is quite walkable.

Oh yes of course uni’s only just started! 😂 Thank you so much for your response. I was just wondering, are most of your lectures in person or are they mainly online? Also, has the teaching been good so far?

About 50/50. We did have more online stuff initially but I guess a lot of people complained so they decided to have more in person lectures. The teaching has been good but there's so much content to learn.

I can imagine for dentistry 😭. Med will probably be the same if I get in. Ah ok it’s good that there’s more in person stuff now, it must be so annoying to have online lectures

i'm applying for dentistry this year!! i just wanted to ask a couple of questions too:
so far do you have a good work-life balance?
are you enjoying the course and teaching?
is the cohort size small and is it easy to meet new people?
what other unis did you apply to and why did you pick newcastle over the others?
has it been easy to adjust to a new environment? i'm also from london but i've only applied to uni's outside of london

sorry again for the spam !!

1) Yes, I still have time to socialise and explore the city.
2) I've enjoyed the course so far but it could be better if more lectures are in person
3) There's around 70-80 people in year 1 and some lectures are with ODHS students which I think are around 12 people. We're divided into 8 seminar groups. Again, since a lot of things were online in the first couple of weeks, I still don't know too many people on the course.
4) I'll send my stats and where I applied in pm's
5) It's a bit colder and less humid but apart from that I haven't noticed too many differences. I feel that the rumours about Geordie accents are a bit exaggerated.

thank you for the quick response!! i'll check my messages now

Hey, I've applied to do Geography with predicted A*AA. Have also applied to Cambridge, Birmingham, UCL and Durham with an offer from Birmingham already. My GCSE grade average is 8.0 with all my grades being 7+. Hoping to get my offer from Newcastle soon as I know they have started giving them out. Good luck to everyone else applying.

Hi!

I've received an offer for BSc Psychology with a conditional offer of ABB. I've also applied (and heard back from) UEA, Sheffield and York and am still waiting to hear from KCL.

My predicted A-Levels are A*AA and I achieved 2x8s, 2x7s, 3x6s and 3x5s at GCSE.

It would be nice to get to know/maybe start group chats with both Newcastle applicants/offer holders!
