Quite a bit of a sad year in the media world as I see that year as a transistional peroid between the old & new eras.
Billie Piper stepped down as Rose Taylor in Doctor Who, Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin & Mike Baldwin (the Corrie character) sadly passed, Cat Deeley moved to the US (she returned to the UK last year), the Strictly results last aired later on the same evening.
TOTP weekly episodes, They Think It's All Over, Byker Grove, Laughter File, Where the Heart Is, Footballers' Wives, Bad Girls, Today With Des & Mel, Really Wild Show, Tarrant on TV, Stars in Their Eyes, My Parents Are Aliens, Rosemary & Thyme, Cracker among many other long-running TV shows ended.
Saturday morning kids' programmes were replaced with cookery programmes after 38 years.
Smash Hits! magazine folded, Des Lyman quit Countdown, ITV closed down its childrens' department plus they lost the rights to the BAFTA awards, loadsa short-lived long-forgotten reality shows came & went.
So many to mention here!

Many of these I wouldn't / don't remember, seeing as I was 3 at the time of them happening. I get what you mean, though, about how all these ends in the world of show-biz are sad with them being in the same year. Funnily enough, YouTube was invented just a year earlier (Feb. 2005).
