Welcome to the Loughborough Applicants thread for 2022 for all prospective applicants.

Applications for all undergraduate courses at Loughborough must be made online through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). This applies to all UK, EU and international students. For entry in 2022, the application deadline for the majority of undergraduate courses is Wednesday 26 January 2022. Applications received after this date will only be considered if places are still available. Loughborough’s institution name is LBRO, and our institution code is L79.
We accept a very wide range of qualifications for entry to Loughborough. We’d advise you to check the details of the particular course you are interested in as most will specify which subjects are accepted and the grades required.
A-levels You would normally expected to have at least three A levels. In many cases, specific subjects are required, and these will be indicated in the typical offers listed for the course. General Studies is not normally accepted.
GCSEs You would also normally need a minimum of grade 4/C in GCSE English Language and, for most courses, GCSE grade 4/C in Mathematics. A higher level of achievement in specific GCSEs is required for some courses and details of these are included in the relevant course entry. Your overall GCSE grade profile is also considered alongside the specific GCSE requirements listed.

We welcome applications from International students and we currently have over 1,000 undergraduate international students studying here. After applying
It’s difficult to answer this as there are so many different factors. However, we do reply to everyone, so it's a case of being patient and waiting for your response.

If you are based in the UK you’ll normally be invited to a visit day for your school/department. You’ll get to see your school/department facilities, speak to staff and students and see the campus. Depending on circumstances, at the time we don't know if this will be virtual or in person.
You are still not guaranteed a place even if you meet the minimum requirements. A lot of our courses are highly competitive.
After Receiving an Offer
If you’re made an offer, you have to reply via UCAS Track. There are certain deadlines in place for doing this and these all depend on when UCAS receive your last decision. For more details about how it works, you can visit the UCAS Replying to your offer webpage which will tell you what everything means and what you need to do.
You can find everything you need to know about our accommodation here.
On results day, you’ll be informed of your results via UCAS Track. If you’ve been successful, you’ll also get an e-mail from us letting you know that you’ve got in. If you haven’t been successful for whatever reason, there is always the option of Clearing (or Adjustment if you’ve done much better than predicted). We can’t say what will be available for 2022 because at this stage we have no idea, but information will be posted just before results.

Hey, I'm looking to apply for computer science here, and I know that the entry requirements are AAB but my predicted grades are currently ABB in Computer science, Maths, and Physics respectively (And an A in EPQ which is based on CS) and even though those are the 'most popular A-levels studied (and grade achieved)' according to Uniguide (apart from maths and CS swapped around for grades). They're still below the advertised entry requirements. So my question is whether it is even worth applying to Loughborough, is it too competitive for this course for me to not have a chance?
And another thing is I'm serious about sport at University if that would change anything in the application process.

If you feel that you're unlikely to get those grades then you could alternatively wait to see if the course enters Clearing - however, last year none of our courses went into Clearing.
You could always apply to see what happens but make sure that you've also applied to universities with ABB requirements so that you have the best possible chance of getting a place somewhere.

Oh so even though my predicted aren't what the requirements are, they can still give me an offer for AAB?

Yes, if they want to offer you a place based on your application then they can offer it at AAB with the condition being that you gain those grades. Sometimes your predicted grades can be much lower than what you actually end up with so it's certainly worth applying in case you do better than expected.

I was wondering if we had to put any further information into our application on UCAS such as which topics we'd be interested in studying? I know Durham asks this for their natural science degree by using abbreviations so I thought I would check as I couldn't find an answer on the website
