Predicted A*A*E

Hey, I've finished year 12 and achieved really good grades in 2 subjects but pretty poor on the other. I just wanted to ask how much of an impact this poor grade could potentially make for University or even beyond that? In the mean time, I've been trying really hard to improve this E, but I am really stressed about it, could anyone help?
Is there a reason that you are achieving an E in the other subject? I think it would be best to speak to your teachers about what you need to do to improve on this grade and take on board their advice. Also, possibly consider a tutor to help you with that subject?

No matter the revision I do, the exam styled questions always throw me off. I'd say I am not confident enough with my capabilities, but I don't really know how to work on this. Any advice around this?

Then if you know the content, practise the exams and their style. Also, consider a tutor to coach you through this because they will be able to teach you how to answer exams and then pick up areas of development focused entirely on you, your strengths and weaknesses and your learning style.

Thank you very much for your help! I'll look for a tutor this week, do you know any good websites to look for tutors? Thanks again

use practice papers with the markscheme to learn how to answer them then try without markscheme.
you should read the examiners report too bc they have some tips on how to answer

If you're getting 2 A* in year 12 you must be very bright and I am sure you are more than capable of getting a good grade in the other. Exam questions are always very picky and I'm struggling with exam technique at the moment. Practice papers, Online Tutorials, Tutor if you really need/want to. I'm not sure about you but for me it's definitely a confidence thing, where the questions always just throw me off but I know the answer deep down lol. There is hope and I am sure you will get a really good grade, good luck

There are various tutor websites if you Google.

Look at reviews for the websites. Look at reviews for the tutor. Look at recent teaching experience. Also the level they teach at. Look at what their specialist subject is and price and availability. Look at qualification and years of experience. Try them out. You can try more than one tutor for one session...see who you prefer. Can you also ask round.
What is the subject?

My daughter has been in a fairly similar position of good grades in two and struggling with one.

Thank you, I'm sure you'll get used to it over time. Confidence thing for me as well, I'm sure you'll get past it too. Best of luck for your exams

Alright, will do. The 'E' Grade subject is Maths, what about your daughter? I could potentially be of use if it's Computer Science or History.

If the worst comes to the worst (though I am sure you will do well) you can get into UCAS tariff point universities or take a year or two out. You could even do another A level or take another route in.

Have you spoken to your teacher? There are some great FREE maths websites.

Dr Frost, TL Maths, I would not get a tutor until you've spoken to your teacher and looked at the above.
