Will universities contact schools you have attended to ask about how you are as a student/ grades?

Hi there

No - unis don't have the time to do this for every student. They may very rarely contact schools regarding mitigating or unique circumstances though.
No - thats what your academic reference is for.
However if you are trying to hide something then be very careful - ie. UCAS have a Fraud Team.
