Hi @the8thv,

I never had the chance to go to prom so I feel your pain😅

Universities don't usually have proms, but they do have other event's throughout the year. It'll depend on what university you go to, but like the person above said, there's seasonal balls, gala's, award ceremonies etc that you might have the chance to attend.

If it comes to it, maybe you and your friends could have a prom themed party to celebrate a birthday, finishing your exams after first year etc! Get creative✨

All the best☺️

No but there are a lot of other events of varying levels of formality.
Closest thing to a “prom” (horrible usa introduction)
Would be a Summer Ball.

Most summer balls would run until the early hours of the morning, featuring bands , bars, funfairs etc. they aren’t cheap.
There are loads of “formals” and club nights happen nearly every week.

Lots of balls, hall balls, winter balls, summer balls, sports balls, society ball, individual clubs often have formal balls, random other balls...

Lots of events.
It’s not called a prom but there are quite a get what they call balls Freshers Christmas Graduation and many more so yeah there are quite a few just under a different name.

Hi there,

I hope you're well

There is graduation, which is at the end of your course and is usually quite a big ceremony with caps & gowns! It's very similar in the prom with the dressing up, socialising, celebrating your education, pictures etc. There are also sports balls, or end of year course balls depending on whether your members of any societies - so make sure you get involved in them if that's something you're looking to get involved in!

I hope that's assured you that there are still a few chances!

The closes thing to a prom we had was a midway ball and graduate ball, plus formal Christmas and summer dinners every year.

Hi there,
At Sheffield Hallam they do society balls and some department balls.

Go to Oxford, Cambridge or Durham. They have balls / lots of activities that involve, 'dressing up'.
depending on your course you might have a yearly ball which is basically the same thing. Failing that, you'll most likely have a graduation ball although what they do for it vary. Some societies have formals which again is basically the same thing so plenty of opportunities to dress up
