22 too old to start partying?

Hi everyone I'll be a 22 year old fresher in September and I'm planning on fully indulging in the typical student social life of partying and clubbing but as I'll be a few years older than most others will I stand out too much?
Thanks for any help 😊

Probably not, I remember seeing someone at an open-day who was 24 and they could have definitely passed as a Year 12 student despite the beard.

Also other students will have taken gap years, masters, PhDs, second degrees, intercalated degrees, or 5-6 year courses.

I don't think 22 is an age old enough to be worried about visibly standing out.
No. Most really good parties were in my 20s, folk tend to have more money, better booze & party locations and can generally handle their drink and behave a bit better.
Nope, early 20s is not too old.
Some of my best carnage companions only started partying in their 30s or 40s.
Too busy studying for good grades and earning the money to pay for their future uni fees & a very active social life.

That's great. Thanks. I wish I went to uni straight from Year 13 it feels like I wasted 4 years.

Thanks. I sometimes forget that people still party after their twenties. 😂
Anyone else?

Nah
Hi!

I am a Psychology student, and just finished my first year of uni. I am 22!
I can say I defiantly made the most of first year and attended loads of socials! I loved freshers! I might even try and jump in there again next academic year :P

Firstly, 22 isn't that old in the grand scheme of things. You're early 20's! I like to say 20's are your 'practice' run for figuring out where you want to end up with your career and things. It's never too late to begin/restart your education journey, better now than never. Do not think you have 'wasted' any time, just think as earning more life experience in preparation for uni lol.

When I started uni I was super nervous as sometimes you can be a completely different person to when you are 18, so I was scared I wouldn't fit in. But, I think the love for socialising and attending 'social events' is something you will have in common with other new students. The great thing about first year is that everyone is a bit nervous and unsure regardless of age and just want to make friends. I got called "old" as a joke a couple times, but honestly no one really thinks about how old you are. I found there was actually a lot of students who hadn't come to uni straight from college, quite a few had either deferred for a year or taken a couple years to work etc.

My advice would be;

- Do not hold back on freshers events, going out etc.
- If you live in halls, get to know your flatmates and do some icebreakers or go to some events together.
- Join a society that you're interested in, you'll find people from all year groups who have something in common with you outside your degree.
- You're never too old for university or parties!

I hope this helps and reassures you a bit.

Feel free to ask anything else!

That's amazing. Thanks a lot!
Nope!

Lol, until ur mid 30s u can party, I'd say
I was 20 at my first year, I was going to a pub with a bunch of 18 year old, I was the only one that got IDed. One of them still makes fun of me for that. Honestly no one will notice, even if they do you're not nearly old enough to stick out.

It's the right time if anything. Do what you want to and don't go by anybody's standards but your own. You want to party then you're 22 go right ahead!

Loads of people go out that age. Some might be sorting their career route out first then go out after

Best times!
Perfect age!
Nightlife isn't just for the kids! I'm out multiple nights a week and I'm 30.

Absolutely the most absurd thing I've ever, ever heard! Get out there, have fun, live your life: everything has been on hold for a couple of years so you aren't alone in having a quiet social life, but that's no reason to think you shouldn't have fun now! Do it. Do what makes your heart sing, make friends, have fun, and party your little socks off until you're 83! Absolutely no reason not to
