I guess things worked out for you unlike me, well done on your soon-to-be-offer

Thanks, I'm sure you'll get an offer, it couldn't have been that bad

Yup :p: But I'm certain you'll get in  You sound like a really smart and keen and motivated person :p:

(Unlike me, the laziness can be felt in even my voice  :colondollar: )
I never asked, what's your UCAS tariff btw?

What went wrong in your interview?

I think everyone else will have interviews in jan and feb. Can they give you interviews during your exams in jan? I mean A2 exams are extremely important and you don't wan't to mess them up. How do you actually even prepare for an interview? I know we are not allowed to talk about the interview itself, but if others can just give general feedback or tips  haha

Last year they only interviewed grads and gap year people in Jan so they will probably do the same this year.

I dunno  I dunno if it even went wrong, I just know I answered two questions not so well and that overall I could have done better, but at the same time I have a feeling I did good but I'm just not sure.

I have family in London. Worst case I could stay with them and eliminate rent and living costs as an issue. The same can't be said for Leicester or anywhere outside of London :p:

I had a feeling it might be similar. Are you going to be hit with 9k fees though with no loan on the A100 as oppossed to only having to fund the first year on the A101?

Yep. The GEP is fully funded with bursary + loans so no need to resort to drastic measures like moving in with family.

The things we do in the name of our ambitions eh?

I agree with you in the sense that the old system was flawed (UKCAt performance is largely dependent on your state of mind on the day). However I still dont think the new system is much fairer. Many people are encouraged to do EPQ at school but some are not (I had not heard of it). This is the same with general studies ( which I was told was a waste of time when applying for academic courses). I realise that things like music grades demonstrate a ' well rounded character', but so do many other activities which do not give UCAS points. I myself have played guitar since I was 6, but stopped doing grades at grade 6 (when I was 11 and did not anticipate the UCAS tariff system)...I have played ever since in bands etc but have no UCAS points to show for it simply because I chose to play for leisure rather than to get grades.

I appreciate that some people have high tariffs purely through getting A*s in 4/5 'solid' A Levels, but would this person neccesarily make a better doctor than someone with just 3 A's? Even the most academic med schools make an offer of 3A's so evidently this level of academic ability is enough when combined with the right qualities and a determination to study medicine.
I just dont think you can select people based on a system which only recognises certain achievements to be worthy of points, and which suggests there is no difference in difficulty between (for eg) an A Level in maths/physics etc and one in General studies.

At the end of the day, medicine is extremely competitive and there are so many applicants it would be ridiculous for uni's to interview everyone who met the basic entry requirements. Each uni needs to have some way to cut the number down and a lot of the time some of the excellent applicants may be rejected, but in my opinion I think that's just life. Each uni's entry requirements has its pros and cons, so everyone just needs to play to their strenths :/

No YOU are just inhuman :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: Are those achieved?

You know what, no matter how you did at that interview, you'll get an offer just on that alone so you've got nothing to worry about :adore:

Definately Cam, Oxford tend to look at GCSEs more (you need 80% A* to just get an interview) and their offer is still AAA. Whereas Cam looks at your A-levels, A*AA and 90% UMS at AS if you haven't yet achieved your A-levels.

Tbh they should rank people using their four best A-levels first and then use the extra qualifications to differentiate between those applicants. So someone with A*AA can't beat someone with A*A*A* just by having done a load of other stuff (which should help you in your PS score anyway).

I don't really agree with you there, seeing as some schools inflate their students predictions, even if its unlikely they will achieve them.

Nah :p:
I got A*a in Year 11 for Maths and RE.
Got 89% in Bio, 90% in Chem, 81% for Physics and 85% for Further Maths in AS level last year and my physics teachers were generous at predicting me an A* :colondollar: (Although I think I only got the A* prediction because I somehow managed to get the A with no revision :p: )

Are you able to get an educational loan with a low rate of interest from the banks though? Otherwise 9k a year is going to be brutal.

I really am not. lol

I told all my teachers that once I do good in my Jan exams, I'm going to do absolutely nothing afterwards because I don't need any A*'s :colondollar: Then one of my chemistry teachers told my mum I said that, so I now tell him I'm going to get an A* in chemistry without trying :p: He's called me a failure at life

Plus, going through some crazy depression right now, so I'd much rather be in your place than mine :p:
