Who uses league tables for medicine? Only applicants who haven't done enough research and are unlikely to get a place would use a league table.

I do love this reaction to Lancaster XD In fact i think i would have the same reaction as wtf/where the hell is lancaster say a year ago.
I would say it's ranked too high but well deserving of top 10-20 at the very least. It's a great little tightknit university with an actually really good working ethos about it.
Im part of the business school though, its forte, so im finding the course also quite top-notch.

From the posts (from Lancaster students) about Lancaster I've read that it seems like most of the funding is going into the business school whilst many other schools are lacking, what's your opinion on that?

Well, it's definately the highlight point for open days- its the snazzy new building, new up-to-date facilities, etc. Having said that, there's a lot of renovations happening on campus atm and a lot of money being splashed out to slowly bring the whole uni up to date.

I also do a minor course in sociology and i really find that course lacking, I would say it's because my hearts not in it but when i read the assigned journals..well i do get interested so the calibre of lecturers for sociology over there are lacking somewhat.

From my friends comments though, there's nothing wrong with most of the other departments and also has a very very strong physics department and i think engineerings good.
I personally think it's a very well rounded university and on par with loughborough and notts

Also, i like how Lancaster's not got its head into being completely bookish. It encourages socialisation and the atmosphere here couldnt be more welcoming. But they encourage improving you socially with direction, infact, i've got an army leadership weekend to go to in a bit which is funded by uni so =]
