I have a feeling most 1st year CompSci teaching is not actually at the Gates building?
Probably not, no. But 2nd, 3rd probably is. Wonder where lectures are actually going to be. Presumably Churchill is big enough for supervisions to be held there.

See Alow above

And you're going for CS+maths aren't you? You're close to the Maths building too

I wonder why this thread is so active compared to it's Oxford equivalent?

Same deal for maths I think though, not much 1st year teaching done there, and CS w/maths only affects year 1. Ah well, at least I get some stuff in the CS dept.

I think our First year lectures arent in the maths building. There like 20-30 minutes away from us (Fitz/Churchill).

I know a load of the IA maths lectures this year were in the Cockroft LT in the New Museums site. None were in the CMS.

It hit me today, at an Oxbridge applicant conference, what 6 applicants per place for maths really means. I have an awful amount of 'big fish small pond' feelings about the whope situation...

Dw you will be fine. Maths we get loads of offers, meeting the STEP grades is the actual hard prt where almost half fail at that hurdle.

So with such a percentage you are pretty much guaranteed an offer if you don't fail the interview ?

Nope. Maths really dont care much about UMS as High ums doesnt show maths ability at all. Loads of people are rejected with 97s i seen one guy on tsr who was rejected with 97 across the board. More on how u think in the tests/interview.
That said most people who are really good have 95+ anyway. Nearly everybody applying will have 95+ in Maths modules.
I would even say getting the Offer is easier then meeting it. Thats why Cambridge give double amount of offers hen places cause they have step to wipe out loads of people only allowing the very very good through.

No one is guaranteed the offer, unless you have a fields medal.

LOOL fair point. BTW I am in year 12 and have begun attempting STEP I questions. I feel like I am lacking the intuition to make a substitution or find the 'trick', is this a bad sign or is it pretty normal for someone starting them ? thanks
