What did people do for the Question on Adaptation of cells and tissues, for efficient Gaseous exchange. I didn't know weather to write about Alveoli or Goblet Cell/Ciliated Cell. I had No Clue what to write on that question!
-capillaries narrow, so cells come single file and are close to endothelium, maximising diffusion
-capillaries once cell thin, so shortened diffusion distance
-alveolar wall one cell thin, so shortened diffusion distance
-millions of alveoli, so more surface area
-constant breathing and blood supply, which maintains the concentration gradiant

I think you might have been able to have double circulatory system, but maybe not, as fish don't have that. There were other things, I forget them now.

Then I did some stuff specifically on humans, like cartilage, elastic fibres, smooth muscle etc, though I don't think that bit's relevant now.

How did everyone find the coursework out of 40? Hopefully grade boundary goes down for that as well
Nah it barely ever changed i dont think

Past 2 years the A boundary was 33 and 34,
B boundary is 29
Then C boundary is like 24 or something

I got 33 in it hopefully that'll scrape an A

I got 32, I've been told that's the A boundary?

Really crap performance from me really, it was a piss easy ISA.

It was a 3 mark question!
-Increases contrast so you can identify the cells more easily
-See organelles inside the cell (eg nucleus)
-Lets you see the chromosomes, so you can follow the stages of mitosis

Are we allowed to discuss the exam yet? I'm always scared of getting banned Anyway, I thought it was a strange paper, didn't go particularly well, or particularly bad, but a lot of stuff I revised didn't come up kinda disappointed...
I totally agree. I was so annoyed :/
I spent ages on some topics and NOTHING came up

what did you guys write for:
what is active transport?
give two examples of active transport?
what is the role of nuclear pores?
what is used as a transport medium, to maintain pressure and an exchange surface?
how do you use a spirometer to measure vital capacity?
what did you draw for the spirometer?
how could you use a spirometer to measure breathing rate?
what risks do you have to consider when using a spirometer?
why do the atrioventricular valves close?
describe the loading of assimilates into phloem?
how are seive elements adapted?
what is the importance of staining chromosomes?
what is the difference between mitosis and meiosis?
which ones did you write for source, sink or neither?
where are meristem cells found?
what was the second question in the paper on?
thanks!!!
