Hi guys, how did you go about getting your jobs? I'd love to become an administrator over my gap year
i initially did work experience their months back and i showed how good and efficient i was that the boss called me personally and asked me to help out.

Aww that's like a job fairy tale
That would be very unlikely to happen to me

Thank you so much for your reply !

Pounds per hour: £3.68 (if the government are reading this, minimum wage rise is needed please!)
Hours per week: 14
Job position: Shop assistant
City: Yeovil (town really)
Don't you think a minimum wage rise will make it more likely that you wouldn't get a job in the first place?

Sure, if the employment market was a perfectly competitive market, resembling global markets for wheat and coffee beans. The real employment market looks more like this:

The national minimum wage was set by government (c***s) as a guideline not to be followed.

Where are you a Barista? I worked in a fast food restaurant in the summer and really enjoyed the customer service aspect of it and have been considering trying to get a 1shift/week thing somewhere in Bath when I go back in September.

The going rate for tutoring is a lot higher than that where I am, how old are you? I was on £10/hr when I started private tutoring at the start of 6th form, and then when I went into year 13 I raised my rate to £12/hr

true enough, although I refuse to accept that young people are worth less than those over 22. In my experience of the workplace younger people often end up doing the most demanding and dangerous jobs.

I remember getting a job when I was 19 (2006) and being paid £4.90 an hour. This would have been ok if I hadn't worked for about £6.10 in my previous role.

My first payslip was devastating.
I went from private tutoring earning > £10/hr (see above post) to fast food service earning £4.99/hr - but as I also went from working 4.5hrs/week to 35 I was earning a lot more!

Pounds per hour: £7.49
Hours per week: 42
Job Position: Clinical Support Worker
City: Edinburgh

I work on the staff bank, so I can work more or less when I choose. I tend to work only nights, as its more convenient for me with regards to travel, etc. Working nights means I also get an enhanced rate (the basic rate is shown above).
