Hmm, I had my 6th form interview, and got in, but was talked into doing 5 (6?) A Levels...

- Maths
- Further Maths
- Physics
- German
- Art
- General Studies?

I guess General studies doesn't really count though.

Heyyyy. First Post.

Haha.

But anyway I plan to do...

Early Modern History
Drama and Theatre Studies
English Literature
Classical Civilisation

(+ a GCSE in Spanish, seeing as my school didn't offer it. Grrr. I want to be able to watch Pan's Labyrinth without the subtitles. Haha)

Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, English Lit. and either Maths or French. I don't like maths but I might regret not taking it if I turn out to need it for whichever uni course I decide to do. French, I don't really need, although I could potentially decide to do a modern languages course in the future. I took 4 languages at GCSE and it seems a shame to give them up completely when I'm really good at them and enjoy them. Then again, I can't stand oral exams... I ended up putting maths down on my form because at my interview, I was about to explain the above and the deputy head just said 'do maths' outright. Then he said if I changed my mind I could come and see him later.

All your choices seem really good

I've chosen Chem, Bio, Maths, Spanish but i think i'm going to take English Lit as a fifth, because i can't decide between Spanish and English Lit I don't want to do 5 AS Levels though! I hope i'll decide between the two by results day!

Why do all English schools do 5? It's really weird lol. Over here, if you do five, you're seen as a GENIUS. Then again, the ones who do 5 get 5 As and are genuises lol.
It's the norm to do 4, but there just seem to be a lot of 'geniuses' on here.

If u dont need to do french then I would just do maths, as you said, you might regret it later if you dont do it.

i can't decide between latin and further maths
I'm definitely doing maths econ and history.
Latin - adds more variety as I would get bored of half my lessons being maths
havn't ruled out classics at uni
respected
Further Maths - respected
hvn't ruled out pure economics at uni, though more likely will be part if any of my degree.
good for investment banking should I choose to go down that path
any ideas?

Well further maths isn't a requirement of any economics courses, and seen as how you think you'll only have a degree with some/none economics, I'd go with Latin. Also, if you don't go into economics/maths etc., some unis only see maths and f.maths as one subject.

Physics
Geography
Psychology
All for AS & A2

And then Government and Politics for AS only. I was going to do Business & Economics, but then I found out that the G&P teacher is retiring (she's my current history teacher and I'd decided that I couldn't face another year with a teacher who hands back homework you did 4 months ago).
