What did people put for the question about TiCl4 and TiO2?

Well I was thinking that the C=O bond splits heterolytically, and an electron pair goes from the bond to oxygen. I'm not 100% sure though.
See here

Yeah I agree. I'm confident it was A. I immediately wrote down A in the exam.

Look at page 128 in the official Edexcel A2 book. Clearly shows a double-headed arrow going from the double-bond to the oxygen.

Well it gave you a ratio which was in relation to XYZ respectively so I think it did matter. You'd only lose one mark if you didn't though.

hopefully it doesn

In order of the questions on in the above pictures.

1) I put D but I'm sure the answers actually B
2) Ligand Exchange D
3) C as it is a tertiary alcohol so is not oxidised by dichromate
4) 3 which was B
5) D
6) A lower pH
7) D
8) D
9) B
10) A
11) B
12) C increase in Entropy
13) I put D but the answer is C
14) Titre of 1.8 moldm-3

For 11 the answer is A as it is a tertiary alcohol, whereas C is secondary. I agree with the rest of your answers

Predictions on grade boundaries everyone?

I hope it's the same as it has been for the last three June exams: 73 A*, 67 A. That would be beautiful. Can see it being higher though as most people here seem to have done well too.

Yeah sorry I meant to edit it.

Is this what everyone got for the NMR one? Seems quite straightforward...

Well I feel dumb now. Still don't get it. Shows how dumb I am. :frown:

can anyone remember the question where it asked for the formulae for what formed when sulfuric acid and another acid (think it was an organic acid?) was added to something (think it begun with a 'b' lol). if so what did you put?
wow so vague sorry

I think it was CH3CH2CH2NH3+HSO4-?

I think it was an amine with 4 carbons in it.

I put 2 amine molecules, each with an 'NH3 +' at the end, and then an 'SO4 2-'. Fairly sure that's incorrect though. I just guessed that the sulfuric acid would donate 2 hydrogens, 1 per amine.

That's probably the right answer.

Yep and the other one was exactly the same but COO-
I put ch3ch2ch2nh4+so42-, is this wrong?

^ I can see at least three seemingly viable answers with that question. It was a bit odd.
