I applied for that too! Sent in my application about a week ago though. I would have thought they would still be fine accepting it, they sent me an email the day after confirming they had received and accepted. So you shouldn't have long to wait to find out if they accepted yours despite the very slight lateness.
The e-mail says by 12 midnight, so that could be interpreted by and including 12:00 - I hope! I guess if it was 11:59 they'd have to specify this? This will definitely be my argument anyway!

Ahh well if it says midnight then I'd guess you'll definitely be fine. I think its important to note too that it's not a computer system as such like with fastream but a person going through the e-mails so they can use their own judgement on the matter. Anyway best of luck! Hope you get through to the assessment centre

You too. Thanks for the words of reassurance. Which locations were your preferences?

(I'm also aware that assessment centre is taking place on the 16th March, I have my FSAC on 13th! Could be a long weekend in London....)

I did literally the exact same thing--realised the deadline was at midnight and so frantically wrote out a response, hitting 'send' at midnight on the dot--and was just told I missed the deadline... I am in the middle of my dissertation write-up and it completely passed me by. Oh well.

Leeds then London, you? I reckon having them close together would be a good idea because I think you proper get in the zone after fsac, so you'll be more prepared.

Triton, did you send the email at 00:00? you can see if it actually left your inbox at this time in the message details. I have just received the same rejection email, but noticed that in their response to my email it had been listed as sent at 00:01. I have sent screenshots and copies of my scanned emails to prove that I sent it at 00:00.

If this is the case for you as well, I would encourage you to do the same. The contents of the email stated that applications sent by 00:00 would be considered. Mine was, I cannot possibly account for the fact their system would receive it at 00:01 due to virus scanning etc.

Yeah they just changed their mind and said they'll actually consider it--apparently it came into their inbox after midnight but the timestamps in the chain of emails show I did send it at midnight. Lucky break!

Did you just send in evidence? Also did you send your email at 00:00? or 11:59 - wanting a lucky break here too! Pretty pedantic though..

edit. wahoooooo application is being considered.

Yeah, I would have been shocked if not. Not everyone's computer is set to the same time anyway.

The aim of the selection process is to find the best candidates, so they're not likely to chuck people out on a technicality...

    - This was when they thought my application was sent at 00:01

They were more than willing, I fear. With so may applicants, it is often the case that arbitrary means are used to deselect candidates. This has happened to me in the Private Sector due to an oversight and it was no issue at all however. So I don't really know what to think!

Getting it in on time is probably what I ought to think....

Wow. I guess I'm not entirely surprised. But that is harsh if you were even 5 minutes late.

In fairness when I missed the deadline for the competency questionnaire by accident I just rang them up and they re-opened my application. I think it's luck of the draw really, though I feel like the public sector might well be less lenient about this kind of thing--everything has to be very much 'by the book'.

    Hope you're successful!

    Hi everyone,

I have a FSAC coming up soon. I see that the amount of source material to go through in the policy recommendation exercise is a recurring theme. Though I'm sure quality is more important than quantity, I am curious as to how much people write for this exercise. Any thoughts would be most welcome

    Thanks in advance!

Also, congratulations to those who have passed the FSAC. Commiserations to those who have not but remember -there's always next year....

    Hi,

i did my FSAC last week and wrote around 2200 words on the policy exercise (though like you say im not sure the quantity is really that important). To be honest the material took about 25 minutes to read, its less than 30 pages long, you just have to make sure you are reading it quickly whilst thinking about the criteria outlined at the start, and just highlight the relevant bits. Not having got my results yet i don't know if this is great advice, but the way i did it was pick one of the options arbitrarily pretty much immediately, then go through highlighting the bits that supported my argument and worked out a few percentages as i went along and wrote them in the margins for later.

    Hope that helps somewhat!
