Nothing sorted yet- but it's good to know who's going to be in newcastle then so we can sort accommodation/ meet up in town!
I'll be in Newcastle for 6 weeks too. I was thinking of the euro hostel or airbnb.

Hi everyone. Has anyone else heard whether we'll get any kind of study time during the placements, like one afternoon off a week, to keep up with the MSc studies?

    Hey!
Jen managed to sort something out and most people in my specialism are staying with friends i think. I found out the other day that my trust can book it direct for me when i start work (if i ever get anything off HR!) so I imagine it will probably be Eurohostel. Thats what id prefer anyway out of other hostels because it means i can cook for myself!

    hi guys,
I recently graduated in Biomedical science but only got 2.2 so I am currently applying for masters (i am interested in haematology and transfusion science). Is there anybody who had been in the same situation and got into the STP programme? Is carrying on with masters worth it?
What kind of roles do you guys recommend to look for that could help with the application?

    Please help.
    Dipa.

Hey!! I accepted a place in Birmimgham for cardiac science a couple weeks ago after a painfully long wait on the reserve list! Is there anyone else in Birmingham thats at Manchester Uni as it would be nice to meet up as I know no-one in the area, and yet to find somewhere to live- talk about last minute!

Also if anyone knows of any facebook groups that would be great

Congrats on your place, that must have been a long wait!

I'm moving to Manchester in a couple of weeks and starting at Christie (Medical Physics). I won't be attending the uni (Med Phys lectures are at Liverpool), but I've been looking at properties all around Manchester for over a week, so might be able to offer advice if you want to send a pm.

Thank you very much for your help- and I'll hold you to that haha! I'm down in Birmingham in the 14th September for the induction day, so hoping to have a couple days there so I can have a look around and get more familiar with the place

I found it quite difficult to get a job in an IVF clinic, but that's because I really didn't want to move. So I was waiting for a position to come up close enough for me to commute to!

Before I got my current job I worked as a lab tech in a biochemistry lab, but decided it wasn't for me so I did an MSc whilst working there in Reproduction and Development, then luckily my current job came up and I got it! They were aware when I stated that I wanted to progress so it's always been the plan really.

It's really hard getting work experience, especially in IVF clinics but volunteering in a hospital is great! Are you only applying for reproductive science?
Heyya! I am first year about to start second year PTP. This is the programme just below the STP and I'm thinking about doing the Reproductive Science STP and i need some advice really. I've read your other replies and wondering what was your course and what was your job position at the IVF clinic? In my programme I'll be getting a good set of experience in Histology do you think I will still need additional experience in a fertility clinic?

    Hi all
I'll also be in Newcastle for 6 weeks starting in October doing respiratory. Are you all sorted for accommodation now? What kind of areas have you all opted to stay in?

Hi, could one of you please explain in a bit more detail the genomics/health informatics courses? I've read them online, but they are pretty vague and unhelpful.

I'm a bioinformatics PhD student so got plenty of experience with programming, machine learning and 'Omics, to what depth are the informatics on the scheme? It's quite hard to grasp from the briefs!

Can someone give me some advice on what evidence you give that the NHS are paying for the MSc course?

Currently enrolling to the University of Birmingham and not quite sure who to contact about it...

Hey, I'd advise taking a look through the learning guide if you haven't already. It goes into quite a lot of detail as to what would be covered in each module/rotation of the course: http://www.nshcs.hee.nhs.uk/images/g..._2014_2015.pdf

Hi Rob, I too was worried when I saw they were requesting evidence at enrolment, but when I got to the relevant page on the website it already had my fees down as £0 payable by me so it let me proceed without trouble

My department is allocating me one morning or afternoon each week for work (on a computer at work), but I think it is at your own dept/manager's discretion.

Hi Everyone! For anyone who is starting uni in Newcastle what have you done about sorting out accommodation. I am frantically trying to organise something and just wondered what other people were doing about it.

    Hello,
I'm a Genomics STP and so will be in Manchester from the 3rd-21st October. I was wondering how you know which other weeks you need to be in manchester in addition to these first three? Does it depend on which rotations you're doing? I will be doing haematology and transfusion science, and reproductive science.
If anyone knows the dates of the heamatology teaching week please let me know.

    Thanks x
