Could you have said polypeptide instead of polyamide for the question on naming the type of polymer?
Possibly. No-one can actually say because the mark scheme may said 'allow polypeptide.' But the correct answer is poly amide

On past mark schemes I've seen it says 'ALLOW polypeptide' so I would think it will be the same for this year

the triglyceride Q was 2 marks right?

Where would the 2 marks come from?

1 mark is surely for the propan-1,2,3-triol backbone right?

Pretty sure the only acceptable form would be:

    Aldehyde + 2[o] --> alcohol
aldehydes don't oxidise to an alcohol buddy, they're reduced to an alcohol so [H]

also, for that compound it said name all functional groups apart from phenol

I put, alcohol, amide, and arene. This would get the mark wouldnt it?

One for the ester linkage, the other for the correct fatty acids.

what did people put for the stitches question?
i said how how the polymer would be hydrolysed using water to 2 monomers of the lactic acid. i guess it tbh, not sure if its correct

I did this too. I was thinking about not putting arene because I thought it'd be too vague, but then finally decided to commit.

For the triglyceride structure I was completely confused and drew the general structure for glycerol (it has come up before in a previous exam) and you could clearly see the Ester link. Do you think I'll get one mark?

also was the octadeconoic acid Q 2 marks?

if so, whats the marking criteria for that?

Surely they award a mark for the correct interchangable C=C right?

I was under so much pressure that i left the COOH group in the process of drawing that annoying isomer

Wait, the first question - it asked to draw glycerol WITH the fatty acids attached?! I just drew glycerol!
