In light of Durham being my easier offer and the course options being more restrictive, I have chosen it as my insurance and have been allocated to St Aidans - which is actually a better result than I anticipated! Very pleased!

I got mine about a week after I got my offer, but that may be because I got an offer just before they started handing out college allocations so I'd expect you'll hear within the week! Out of interest which college have you applied to? ☺️

I applied for Castle so I'm not expecting to get it. I heard last Friday and I'm still yet to hear about my college. Is that weird?

No, they say expect to hear in a couple of weeks - I waited 10 days after I received my offer. Don't worry about not having heard until it's been 2 weeks

Should I take my History offer at Durham (University College) or UCL? Any opinions would be appreciated, really stuck!

Anyone know what the deal is with the 'referral scheme'? A couple of people have mentioned it to me as some sort of second chance for rejected applicants, and I'd be interested in hearing about it before my anticipated rejection...

So I'm not the only-one who hasn't heard back yet... Though I'm sorry for you, I must admit it's nice knowing someone else is in the same boat!

It depends what you want to get out of the university experience! At the end of the day the course is the most important thing, so take a look at the modules for both courses, see which one most interests you, and see which one offers the skills you might need in the future.

Personally I haven't seen UCL but I do live in London, which is very different to Durham. If you want a large city with lots going on, a large variety of night life, loads of shops, etc, maybe UCL is the better option. However London is really expensive and definitely not for everyone!

Although Durham is smaller and the city itself is quieter, there is a lot of socialising within colleges, and the collegiate system is something unique to Durham which not many other places offer.

Have a look to see what societies and other activities both the unis offer as well, to be honest both unis are brilliant with amazing reputations and I'm sure wherever you go you'll be very happy.

    Good luck making your decision

Don't forget though, although some good points are made, Durham is situated right next to Newcastle which is also a big city with lots of shops and gateshead (near newcastle) is home to the biggest shopping centre in the UK. So Durham offers the choice of being able to visit a big city or stay in a quieter one, which is a good combination

I just got a rejection for Philosophy and Politics it wasn't my first choice but it's just annoying that they since November to reply to me, it gives such false hope ahh. It says they're going to contact me about why thy rejected me, does anyone know how detailed this is or is it just really general feedback talking about how competitive the course is?
