    Can someone look at Q5C C2 Soloman H please

    http://www.tomred.org/uploads/7/7/8/..._solomon_h.pdf
    \dfrac{1}{3^x} = 2( 3^x )

    3^x \times 3^x = 0.5

    3^{2x} = 0.5

    Can you see what to do here?

    Hmm, question 6 screwed me over in this year's BMO, I just abhor geometry and didn't brush up on my circle theorems. :lol: I'm sure I got full solutions to questions 1,3,4 and wish I spent a little bit more time on 5 instead of scratching my head on 6. I don't even know what my final score was, my teachers never got back to me but presumably I didn't qualify. :lol:

    I've gotta be very careful with what I say, as I remember receiving a lot of hate a few months ago due to what I said about C1... sorry for coming off as a bit arrogant but C2 isn't that bad at all, there might be one or two stretching questions but as long as someone's prepared and put in a decent amount of effort they can end up with a good grade sans problem

    Well:
    Spoiler:
    Show
    Prove that:
    x^n  +y^n \not= z^n \ \forall (x,y,z,n) \in \mathbb{Z} \ and \ n \geq 3

    Whilst I'm doing that, you can prove that all non-trivial zeroes of the Riemann Zeta function have real part 1/2.

    (But seriously, it's very difficult for people be seriously trying to find help with Maths amongst this mess. Also, to whomever said that Goldbach has been proved, this is factually incorrect - a couple of papers have been released that are cited to prove the weak conjecture, but this has not to the best of my knowledge been 100% proven yet.)

    Here's one, for those who know what a geometric distribution in probability theory is :teehee:

    Spoiler:
    Show
    Prove that if X \sim Geo(p), E(X) = \dfrac{1}{p}

    If you don't know what a geometric distribution is, then if X \sim Geo(p),  \mathbb{P} (X=x) = (1-p)^{x-1} p
