    Intellectual but lacking in charisma.

Ed Balls... well the words 'bumbling oaf' come to mind.

Very interestingly it looks like 2015 could see multiple elections of Labour royalty. Apparently now confirmed that Kinnock's son will stand in a safe Welsh seat and it's suspected for quite a while that Blair, Straw and Harman will all have their sons standing in 2015.

Or you could look at it at Miliband trying to be more electable, if you consider partially cutting ties with trade unions makes someone more electable
Likely so, doesn't make him a suck up to the unions though now does it?

So true, my mother is a teacher and she taught me early on the problem with results based pay as well. As quite a good teacher, you get shifted on to the harder classes, all that extra work is undermined and you take home less of a pay packet than the slacker with the good class. Horrendous. This medieval attitude to education is tragic to watch really.

A return to the 1950s when seven members of the Macmillan cabinet were related? Then don't forget how many of the Churchills were in Parliament, or even William Pitt the Younger whose father had been PM. And was it not Arthur Balfour whose uncle Robert, Lord Salisbury was also PM (hence the phrase 'Bob's your uncle')?

And with Mr Kinnock the younger being the husband of the Prime Minister of Denmark, does it mean more selfies?

Yes Macmillan had 7/18 as direct relatives!

Yep. Have to say I agree here. Performance related pay for teachers is ridiculous. As is the asking members of the armed forces to become teachers. Really not happy with Gove for those 2 things.
But, for a lot of the rest of the video, if she shut her gob and actually got into teaching the class, she might liven up a bit. There's always something to moan about. It's what I've dicovered with several family members and friends in teaching, it being the profession I want to go into, and spending time in Austria as an assistant... teachers always moan about something. And fair enough - but in Austria, they do naff all teaching - 14 hours a week. And yet they complain that's too much. As my granddad always said to the teachers who were complaining about new policies from successive governments - 'shut up moaning, and do what you're paid to do, teach'.

It's unfortunate, but there's probably always going to be issues. The best you can do is try an ignore all the politics and just do what you can to inspire and teach.

I'd love to see Farage if that occurred, talk about a conspiracy.

Has anyone seen the film Snowpiercer and if yes, how do you rate it? It offers an interesting depiction of human society throughout the history and could sparkle some more capitalism vs. socialism debate.

I saw a few people on reddit talking about it, looks quite good, I'll definitely give it a watch.

Do we not get a new thread for a new parliament?
Conventionally I think we just start a new one when the thread is full.

As Saoirse said - I think in previous years we've just started a new thread when we reach 500 pages :dontknow:

Nope, it's never worked like that before.
