Just thought I'd post on here, I applied to Exeter for zoology as a back up course yesterday! I've applied for Veterinary Medicine but having received 3 rejections already, thought I'd better have a back up plan!
When I was considering applying for VetMed, I was told if you really want it and don't get in the first year, don't be discouraged. Take a year out, get more work experience and earn some money, then reapply, because you have shown real commitment and despite to study the subject you are way more likely to get offers

That's what I'm going to do if my grades are good enough, but if they aren't I'll hopefully do zoology

I got an offer from the Imperial this week as well. They wanted 38/45 points with a 6 in Higher Level Bio and Higher Level Chem and a 5 in Higher Level English (I'm doing the IB Diploma Programme).

The requirements for the Higher Levels were higher for Bristol (6,6,6, but only 35/45 required overall) than for the Imperial, at least in my case. Also got offers for Exeter and Sheffield, but I'm pretty sure that I'll make the Imperial my firm choice.

My offer was A*AA. Already have the A* in maths thanks to further maths, so just have to hope I can maintain my As.

Heya, sorry for the late reply i've only just seen your message. Well all the course I applied to were Zoology. Before I applied I was torn between Zoology and Biology. I decided not to go for Biology as I would prefer studies with a leaning towards animals rather than a whole overview of everything Biology. I chose zoology because I knew I wanted to specialise in animals. But I also chose zoology over Animal Biology as it is broader and still covers ecosystems in detail. I chose Hull as my firm for several reasons. Before visiting the university I preferred the course content to the others I had applied for, it seemed to have more choice and would give me the essential skills I needed at the same time. I also looked at the league tables but knew that these should be taken with a pinch of salt. I then went to visit the university and loved it from the minute I saw it. The departmental staff seemed really nice and I just knew that it was the right place for me to go. I think for the first year of study, the Biology and Zoology courses are very similar to make sure everyone knows the basics but the modules after can become quite different. So yeah, if you prefer learning everything about Biology the probably choose the Biology course but if you prefer just the animal side and ecosystems then choose Zoology. Don't forget that Zoology does include Human Biology as well and stuff like Oncology.

I hope this helps, sorry if I waffled a bit it was quite a difficult question

Great! Thanks for taking the time to reply Ebony :-)
Yeah to be honest im not really interested in the botany side of biology, iv not much interest in the plant side, like you, i prefer animals. Also with what it costs, id like to get the most out of it i can, and the zoology has field trips and id love a placement. Your rite in what you say about them being similar during the first year, all the biologcal courses are really samey i think cos they all share the same fundamentals really i would think. Spoke to admissions, they say i can just change if i decided id rather do zoology, so im not worried. Received and offer from Liverpool yesterday for biology, dont think i will go cos my home is here, but it felt good to get an offer so soon, i only sent my ucas application on weds afternoon!
