    Hi everyone!

I'm a 1st year student at MMU studying event management and when I was applying to university, it was very daunting to make sure that I picked the right decisions for me! Obviously, everyone is not the same but I am happy to help anyone if they are stuck with anything. The reason for giving advice is I wish I had someone to tell me what the best halls were to be in and what was the best thing to do is to make friends etc.

Anyone struggling with ANYTHING! I am happy to help

    So I've got a question
I applied for Tourism and now I have to choose the insurance uni. So have you got any idea if students are happy with that course? Do you know anybody studying Tourism?

We do tourism as part of our course and I like it but it all depends on whos teaching . Our teacher is a bit mono tone, which makes it slightly boring but its good and if you do tourism, you get the go abroad and work in the placement year. I have opportunities to travel in australia over the summer with what unis provided so I should think it would be good as tourism but tourism is not really for me so I can't say if it would be good all together

Are you on your second year then? I think its nice your offering so much advice! i was wondering what the best halls to stay in is? I'll be studying at the Birley fields campus when i start in september so wanted to know which would be best. I am wanting my own en-suite though since I'm a bit OCD with hygiene :P and if i was to apply for the Wimslow Park accomidation would that have freshers in there as well? and how far a walk would it be from my classes ?? I'd be really thankfull for any information you could give me

I'm starting in September 2014, but live in Manchester so have to apply for private halls. I viewed Wimslow park and wasn't impressed it's so noisy and they were pushy! Me and my friend have just put our deposit down for Sanctuary students on Denmark road literally opposite, the accommodation and staff are so nice and have blocks just for freshers only! Highly recommend them :-)

I've just set MMU as my firm choice for Business Management starting in September. What halls do you recommend? I've heard Cambridge in terms of outgoing people and socialising? is this true?

I've also had a conditional offer to study film and media studies, and am thinking of staying at briarfields, as it looks like a good size and has an en suite! Do you know when the applicant day is?
Yeah me too! Was going to go into Victoria halls but it says you have to pay 20% of the final payment as your deposit or something. And I'm not sure about the applicant day as when I put in my details to book it says that course doesn't have one however I emailed them and they said they havnt made a specific day yet and wait like a week and try again!

Ahh I've got a conditional for event management and I'm almost certain I'm going to firm it. Are you enjoying it?

Also which halls do you recommend? I've viewed Briarfields, Cambridge, Victoria and Oxford Court and I'm torn between which to pick!

Its all depends on who you are as a person i think!! I'm in cambridge and i'm in a flat of 10. 5 boys and 5 girls. If you have an ocd in cleaning then by all means go for an en-suite but theres a lot of people who ive spoke to that are in an en-suite place that wish they went to cambridge or somewhere because of the social factor. Its very hard to make friends from what i can gather.

I see it as you only do it once. Yes it can be a bit messy but you wanna make as many friends as possible. Id deffo recommend cambridge if you want to make lots of friends. If you just want to do work then private halls or oxford court is best.

With victoria halls, if you decide to quit uni, you still have to pay the rent for the full year. Just a warning

    Any other questions feel free
