    Hi frankyelizabeth,

We hold back a proportion of each of the halls so every type is available come results day.

    Hi Annejanedownie

We don't usually finalise all of this information until late July ... but based on previous years you'll be able to choose from a wide range of subjects from business, accounting, economics, psychology, legal studies, languages, etc.

You'll get lots of guidance and support in August to complete online enrolment and choose your courses ... so don't worry too much yet!

    Hi Amyyn,

Unfortunately we would be looking for the equivalent to A-Level qualifications for entry in 2016 so we can't accept your IGCSE on there own.

    Hi Caitlyn,

I personally haven't heard of any such scheme for student discount with apple but I have asked someone in the office and they sent me this link: http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/mac/education

It looks like there is student discount scheme with apple so might be worthwhile having a look there.

    Hope this helps,

Lord Home is the same as Robert Bryson, Lord Thomson, George Burnett and Robin Smith which all have fairly standard ensuite rooms with a kitchen shared between 4 to 6.
    Every room has a window.
Rooms that start with a 1 are on the ground floor.
Basically all rooms are the same size. Some rooms can be a little larger or smaller if they are on a corner of the building.

    Hi User1299,

Freshers week starts on the 3rd of September - 11th September. Think the 15th would be the start date for classes last year.

The Union are still working on the programme of events and will be publishing events on their website in due course. keep your eyes peeled on this website for details in the future: http://www.hwunion.com/freshers

    See you in September,

Hey! Can you guys give an example of a schedule for the School of Built Environment courses? I will study Civil Engineering and Construction Management and I was wondering if the courses are everyday and if so are them only in mornings or afternoons? I am trying to figure out if I can manage a full time job while having full attendance to my courses.

    Hi Andreass,

Your timetable differs year on year, so I cant give you a definitive answer unfortunately. You should expect to be in class for about 20 hours per week so a full time job on top of that might be a stretch. There are plenty of part time jobs in the city so students tend to go for this to fit it around there studies.

    Hope this has helped,
    Kind regards,
    Keir

    Hi Rishikasmiles,

I haven't heard anything at the Edinburgh Campus unfortunately. We run the Architectural Engineering course in Edinburgh but I am not sure if the courses will be a close enough match for accreditation. You would probably be best to speak to your academic mentor in Dubai, they will have a much better idea of what opportunities are open to you.

    Cheers,

Hi Briannafowlie,Parking is free on campus, with many non-permit car parks. You can apply for a permit, however, as the parking on campus is limited not everyone who applies for a permit will receive one. We are well served by public transport, a bus is on campus every 5 minutes or so throughout the day so I would always advise people to take advantage of the great service.

    Hope this has helped,
    Cheers,

Received my grades and now hold an unconditional! Yay!

Could anyone tell me how many hours per week do Mechanical Engineering students have?

And then a bit of an off topic: how's socialising like during freshers week? or perhaps I should just wait for the programme to come out?

    Thank youuuu
    Congrats Nikita!! :banana2:

Firstly the serious stuff... we normally say contact time is about 20 hours per week for something like Mech Eng however it depends on what year you are in but this is a good guide.

Now on to the fun stuff like freshers! There is lots to do during freshers week, the whole ethos and point of freshers is to meet new people. Events go on throughout the day and night and are varied. The events we have had on campus in previous years are coffee mornings, sports day games, club nights and even a zombie apocalypse! For this year... well we don't know yet! The programme will be released in 19 days time, keep your eyes peeled on this website http://www.hwunion.com/freshers.

Congrats again and we will see you in September!
    Cheers,
    Keir
