you sure the grades follow a normal distribution? i heard that 50% of people doing further maths get an A/A*. i thought if grades followed a normal distribution the grades would be distributed like IQ scores, e.g. 2% get an IQ score of 130 or higher.
That's what I was taught before and I'm pretty sure my statistics teacher explained it to me last year. That's why grade boundaries are adjusted. I mean if a ton of people get very close to full marks they can't really adjust the grade boundaries anymore can they? They can't say 110% for an A* lol. That's why in some subjects the ratios are off. But generally I'm pretty sure that's how it's done

Omg stop lmao😭
5. I honestly don't think the 'hardest a-level' exists . It honestly just depends on your strengths. If you are a creative person and a good writer then sure English, history etc.. will be a walk in the park. Similarly if you are logical then so will maths and chemistry. I just don't think you can put these two completely polar ways of thinking together and crown one of them the 'hardest'.

note: you can't make a fish climb a tree.

every A level is 'hard' in their own way. You cant categorize it to just a handful
Precisely. I guess an appropriate way to determine the hardest A-level is to ask a lot of people (say 10,000 up to 100,000) as much as possible and to evaluate this one by the majority.
7. further math and math
8. My A Levels ordered easiest to hardest:
Maths
Further Maths
French
Philosophy

Depends on the person, though.

I've heard biology and photography are pretty tough and I'm taking them both next year :s
Try taking music technology without working facilities.

Or a music technology teacher.

The events the exam board has prescribed to be taught? Yes. Specification changes happen like every 6 - 8 years.
Oh ok. That makes sense. Spec changes for maths etc. are less important because any foundation will be roughly the same but I see it making a big difference for history.

Easiest: Chemistry and Biology.
Hardest: Geography.
Lol, I do all 3 subjects at A2. Don't be daft mate

This was me during GCSE, we had a teacher who didn't know the subjects, about 5 PCs with working software and we didn't get half of the equipment until year 11, surprised any of us passed tbh

Our music technology teacher left at the start of my A2. The school didn't bother to get a replacement, and instead bullied me into teaching the AS, and doing the A2 by myself at the same time. They put it to me that if I didn't agree to take over the AS class, that I was effectively sabotaging the student's exams.

Meanwhile, I was dealing with a music teacher who was blackmailing me into doing all his *****y Y7-9 marking for him because if I refused, my (perfect) assignments would come back as failed.

God I'm glad I'm not in school anymore.

Oh my god, that's really bad! Damn...

I've never experienced anything like that before, sorry you had to deal with *******s like that...
18. (Original post by chloe.lwt)
100% for an A or A*, that's why it's tough
thank you, because everyone expects you to get an A because it is supposed to be 'easy' but its practically impossible to get.
19. I think it's most likely further maths.

Weirdly, the same music teacher came up on my Tinder feed a few years later. So he must have swiped right on me. *shudder* And to think, being gay is illegal too and can get you the death sentence if you're unlucky!
