An electrical signal is sent along a neuron which is received at a synapse and then is released by a synapse which then travels along the gap in between the two synapses until it reaches the other synapse then its detected by the other synapse which is then send as an electrical impulse along the other neuron

Give one advantage and one disadvantage of thalidomide? (2 marks)
Thalidomide can be used for leprosy treatment, however, it causes defection of babies if taken by a pregnant woman.

What does the distribution of lichens show?
More lichens means that the air is less polluted as they do not grow in air which is polluted e.g. in cities where there is a high amount of nitrogen oxide.

Suggest two reasons why deforestation also causes a reduction in biodiversity.

Lichens can be used as air pollution indicators, especially of the concentration of sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere. Lichens are plants that grow in exposed places such as rocks or tree bark. They need to be very good at absorbing water and nutrients to grow there.

Suggest two reasons why deforestation also causes a reduction in biodiversity.
    1) There is a loss of habitat
    2) There would be a change in the eco-system through changes in the temp and rainfall...
