Good job we didn't get rid of Johnson then!

I imagine a lot of fringe players will play against Boro.

Allen out for 3 weeks too. Shame really Can could have had a chance, but he's injured.

But Skrtel is back and could to start v West Ham, Johnson back in training during the weekend and Sturridge did light training yesterday, full training next week.

We could use Skirtles presence for set pieces (just as long as he doesn't play for the opposition :P)

skrtel back in our line up is a nice boost defensively.
the back line of manquillo-skrtel-lovren-moreno is absolutely fine to me.
nervous about mignolet in general but i would be disappointed if we were poor defensively on saturday.

even though we're away, 3 points is all i expect - villa are our bogey team at anfield and we played terribly; i expect nothing like that against west ham.
it's a good opportunity to try to jump ahead of city and/or catch chelsea up since they're both playing each other the day after us.

I don't think Manquillo will lose his place. Rodgers puts ability/form over reputation.

I bloody well hope you're right zerf.

Bar his experience I don't see anything that Johnson has over manquillo.
Even then experience means nothing if you don't use it well and you look as amateur as Johnson does at times :/

I don't care how we do it, we just need 3 points tomorrow - can't let united jump us.

I think experience is a term which is popular but rarely defined in the context of players on the pitch. For me experience is a judgement and calm that comes with having been in the situation before and handle/processed it mentally. Experience has to be positive or a progression from a negative experience. Johnson has clearly experienced a lot, but being an experienced liability isn't really worth much over being a unproven youngster.

Basically what I've been saying about Glen in this thread and elsewhere for ages.

Experience is just a nothing term thrown about, and experience means nothing if you don't use it, like Johnson.

true, with all this "experience" he should be way better than an unproven 20 year old.
but he gets caught out in the most amateur of ways, so what realy "experience" does he actually have?
he has longevity but nothing useful to show for it.

i would be so angry tbh - manquillo is 20 years old, already better than johnson and is fully capable of playing tomorrow.

Manquillo is a no brainer for me too but Rodgers seems to have an obsession with Johnson.

Big game though. Lose/draw and Utd, Everton, Spurs, Arsenal could all be ahead of us at the end of the weekend. The season's young but we still don't want that. Win and we pick up some momentum going into some easier fixtures.

+ another Utd win combined with another Liverpool loss will result in an unbearable media jizzfest.

Downing was pretty impressive the other night it's gotta be said. Can see him coming back to haunt us with his delivery tomorrow. Bear in mind how woeful we are at set pieces, too. I'm wary.
