# Mega A Level Maths Thread MK II watch

1. (Original post by DJMayes)
Be careful of expressing your love for Maths in public, it's often considered taboo. I was considered quite weird for calling Differential Equations sexy on a STEP lecture, let alone anywhere else...
Hmm. I'm surprised!
2. (Original post by DJMayes)
Not necessarily; just because you're doing STEP doesn't mean you're not allowed preferences! DE's are one of my preferred topics but this isn't true for everyone - the only constant is that nobody likes vectors.
I mean, I didn't think one would be considered weird amongst other mathematicians for liking a certain part of maths unless no one else liked DEs are all

What's so bad about vectors? Are STEP vector questions really weird or something?

I suppose dislike of vectors comes hand-in-hand with dislike for Geometry.
4. Find the value of the term independent of x in the expansion.

Would we ever be asked anything liike that ??? (edexcel c2)
5. (Original post by darrentaggart)
Can anyone tell me how to get a reduction formula for this integrand?

Sorry here's the integrand.

Yet another C2 thing I'm unsure about. I'm getting worried!

Hmm, what's there to be unsure about? Seems pretty straightforward imo.

Even the one davros suggested about the stomach and bowel problems you were having the other day .

Integrate by parts.

STEP vector questions are just generally poorly done, possibly because they're not taught particularly well at A Level and below. They can also be aimed a bit too high at times.

That's the thing though - I don't dislike geometry, although a lot of STEP candidates do. I do tend to avoid vectors questions more than any other topic though.

13. AQA FP2 and FP4 are my worst...

Find the term without x. So a number, not an unknown.

I get it now. I just didn't know what the Q was asking
16. (Original post by Xx4L3x)
What's the coefficient of the term when it's or 1.
17. Can you people get some wrong tomorrow so I feel better

Can you people get some wrong tomorrow so I feel better
Why not you get them all right instead?
19. (Original post by L'Evil Fish)
Yeah, I did that and found why!

You and me both
So like I tried to do Solomon B C2 in my sleep...The sector area turned into a slice of Pie :s LOOOL
WOOO I just ate loads and just got home :P reckon I can get 2 papers done before 9am? I wanna sleep though

Its better if you get some sleep and rest now as you don't want to be tired for your exam. Also if you find something you can't do now then it'll just stress you out so its best if you don't do anymore, just have a look at the proof before you go in and best of luck for tomorrow, you'll ace it!
