    can someone please explain REBT?
REBT (rational emotive behavioural therapy) is designed to change the way people think about abnormality. It encourages patients to challenge their irrational belief system. This is done by questioning whether the patients beliefs are logical and if they have any actual facts behind them. The patient is also questioned on whether their beliefs have any empirical evidence behind them and lastly whether their beliefs are pragmatic. By learning to do this the patient changes their self defeating beliefs into rational ones.

can someone outline and evaluate ECT for me please???

ect is done as a last resort method when medication doesn't work and there is a high risk of suicide in the patient.ect is usually done in cases of severe depression

    Patients:
asked to lie down, given an anaesthetic & a muscle relaxant
electrodes are placed on the temples and a current of 70-130v is passed through the brain for about 0.5 sec
patient would convulse for about a min
after ect they cannot recollect what happened

ect done 2-3 times a week for 4 weeks but this could vary

ethical issue as patient suffering from a mental illness thus informed consent is not fully given
side effects of memory impairment and headaches
only alternative method when drugs don't work 50-70% success rate
there is not a lot known about how ect works so it is argued that we shouldn't use it bc it could be dangerous

SIT treats the underlying cause rather than the symptoms it is more effective than biological methods of stress management as there is no tolerance or addiction problems regarding SIT

extremely flexible as it can treat acute stressors and chronic ones (death of a family, public speaking, exam stress

scientific credibility as law students and athletes use SIT and say it boosted their performance

    time,effort & motivation are needed.SIT is around 20-22 weeks

The minority opinion becomes dominant in society so most people don't really remember where this view originated from. Because it becomes a law people have to obey it.
For example, recycling was a minority view but then it became the majority view. Social cryptoamenia took place and most people now don't remember or know where this minority view originated from.
So it's just people forgetting where the minority view came from.
Sorry if it doesn't make sense.

Social Cryptoamnesia is a phenomena whereby an idea is spread via minority influence, and when it becomes the norm people cannot remember where they got the idea from

The current is 0.6 amps not 70-130V - that would be the voltage
