    A2
    C3 - 74
    C4 - 78
    M1 - 99

    543/600 - A. (AQA)

I had no real incentive to work for an A* since my offer didn't ask for one. So when I saw 74UMS in March for C3, I was like whatever I'm not paying £20-30 for the resit to work harder doing both C3 and C4 in June for an A*. Could have done better really especially in C3 and C4 if I had put in more time and effort but I guess I just slacked a bit in A2 after what I got in AS. Instead I used that time to focus on my other subjects though. M1 was pretty much doing the Mechanics module of AS Physics again so that wasn't too bad.

    You would need 180/200(a) across C3 and C4 and 48/100(e) in S1

So I would have to get 90+ ums in c3 and c4 to get an a*, but in s1 i can get, like you said, an E?

The two main examples I have are:

    - One person who got 79 in FP1, got an offer to Cambridge but did not meet the STEP grades
    - One person who got sub 90 scores in M2, FP2 and FP3 before applying (So Cambridge knew them) and got an offer, achieved two B grades (Do not know UMS) in M4 and M5 and got SS1 in STEP so will be studying Cambridge next year.

I cannot remember both of their UMS in other modules. Yes, your modules are rearranged to give greatest overall combined grades where possible. Finally a sub 90 score is not necessarily representative of a lack of ability at a module in my opinion but I shall agree to disagree as I can see we are going nowhere.
I got 69 in S3 and still will go to Cam next year, I might also be an example.

Haha, damn right! Was a little annoyed with C4, I thought I got at least 95, but I suspect the grade boundaries have something to do with it.

Starting a degree at Durham in September studying Maths (G100). I'll let you know how it goes
Congratulations on the great results and getting into Durham! Do you remember which modules you had completed when applying? I'm trying to figure out whether I've got a decent chance for Durham based on my UMS scores. I did the full maths A level in the lower sixth, getting the A* (561/600) and I'm doing the full further maths A level in the upper sixth.

certainly do, applied with C1, C2, FP1, D1, S1, and M1, so my grades were:

    Maths- 297/300
    F. Maths- 276/300

I think you'd stand a great chance of getting into Durham! 561/600 is a great score, and the fact that you've already got the A* will be a big advantage. Go for it!

Thanks for the kind words! I've always found it hard to tell where I stand in relation to other people applying to Durham in terms of UMS marks, so it's a bit daunting to know that I'll be competing against a high number of people per place. I suppose I've just been thinking of my A* as something that will make meeting offers a lot more easily and I didn't really consider it that much of an advantage for getting the offer in the first place.

Thanks again for the reply and I hope you enjoy your time at Durham!
