As a member who would start a real life political party to stop individuals using the name, using a 1000 votes qualifier would be a good idea but there would be a temptation to fund a campaign to achieve 1000 votes.
Who the **** has that kind of money?

If one member could not fund it, all of the members in a TSR party could crowdfund to finance a campaign that focusses on posters, leaflets, and door knocking.

I mean enough money that spending that kinda money on a silly game is rational.

And how many of those people are also participants in this game?

Who knows, especially if cost is split

Let's assume a nominal cost of £1/vote (seems reasonable, especially given any deposit will be lost). I don't see on what model you find enough people a) petty enough and b) with enough disposable income that this becomes something which actually happens.

£1000 isn't that much, especially when we consider that you will be able to find nutters to help fund these things

This is £1000 PER NAME on a student forum. Maybe if I earned 200k+ I might feel it worth a laugh, or like 120k+ if it were split between two, but I find it tough to believe that enough people would be willing to pay good money to circumvent the spirit of the rules to get the price below £100, which is a lot of money to most students.

No, though said account would be unable to vote for themselves.
