Arsenal don't want the 'Biscuit Tin'(Capital One Cup)!! :l
Why not, exactly? I've heard numerous Arsenal fans say that. The League Cup was Mourinho's first silverware with Chelsea, and the first Sir Alex won with his new team to end that barren spell we had when Arsenal were winning everything. Winning a trophy like that is a springboard to greater success. I honestly reckon if you'd beaten Birmingham you would have won the league that year. We pretty much won it by default as no other team turned up.

Anyway, grats on 4th. Would love to see you lot strengthen properly in the summer and challenge for the league.

No doubt that Wenger needs to spend big. I think everyone has the feeling that we've turned a page wrt financial constraints and that our transfer policy will change. Especially with the big new Puma/Emirates deals added to our massive cash reserves.

Dont think Wenger will spend 70m but I do see us bringing in one or two big price tag players.

Vital to get CL football again though.

Congrats on finishing top 4, yet again! Not much reason to worry with Wenger still around imo.

The form at the end of the season has been sensational. What is it - 26 from 30 points?
Since we drew 2-2 with Liverpool in Jan, we've got 29/36 points. Or 26/30 since losing to Spurs. I think.

Thrilled with the win, but can't help thinking how gutted we'd all be had Koscielny not scored, with Spurs grabbing a late goal. Nevertheless we won, with 26/30 points, excellent run of form to end the season

Forgive me if I remain unconvinced by what Arsene 'said'. Actions always speak louder than words, particularly with this club.

Don't you not know what's been going on the past 8 years at Arsenal. Don't you think Wenger likes to buy top players ? Wenger has made the best of a bad situation the last 8 years and bought the best players he could with the money available. Now That our sponsorship money has come in we can spend more.

When the spurs fans thought it was 1-1 at Newcastle XD

Honestly though, we don't need to spend close to 70m. Just a goal scorer and a top class centrel midfielder- don't have to necessary be a player that plays in that overhyped defensive midfielder role- just one to gradually push Arteta out of the team, though, I've grown fonder of him as season went on. And sign a RB and players to replace any that leaves.

The biggest thing that we have going to next season is that we won't be losing one of our best players.

I never ****ing said that, I'm saying that I'd like to see it with my own eyes before getting my hopes up. And there's a difference between having millions of pounds and spending it on obscure or mediocre players, instead of spending it on proven talent. I have no idea what Wenger will do and will only get my hopes up for next season when he does it.

I'm happy that we got CL today, but still anxious for our future.

Not usually a football follower but... 16 consecutive champions league qualifications whilst running a transfer deficit of £15 million??? Arsene is absolutely astounding. Incredible achievement.

26 points from 30 and the pressure was really on to get those points. Do we really need a massive squad overhaul?

Nope, we don't. We have the foundations of a very good team but we just need a few players with that extra quality to help us to push on and challenge for trophies.

You were very average today, luckily you played against an awful team.

Wenger has done a fantastic job with that squad, such an average Arsenal team, no world class players apart from perhaps Cazorla.

    Well done on 4th.

26/30 points during crunch time. Not an average squad at all.

Well that was mainly because of defensive resolve (Koscielny ) if we're honest and we've struggled going forward. We have a terrible record vs the other top clubs this season and that's down to the lack of top-quality we have.

Wenger's never been the type to overhaul the squad but I think we need to do what CFC did last summer and inject 2 30m players into a squad with good foundations. A new winger and a new striker is where I see the main issues atm although a DM wouldnt go amiss either. If we can sell some of the deadwood like Bendtner/Djourou and use Arshavin/Squillaci's wages then we could use 2/3 squad players as well.
