Well, apparently the National Front are running in my council ward; speaks volumes of the local population that they fancy their chances.
It surprises me that the NF aren't dead yet TBH. Although I've always been aware that there is a neo-Nazi population in the UK...

Well I just discovered the English Democrats today... Their policies are bizarre to me.
These smaller parties are totally delusional. They all fight against eachother, sometimes expecting to make gains in elections. They don't realise that they have no chance, with more mainstream right-wing parties such as UKIP.

Scotland the Tories and Labour tie on seats for second, but unsure of how the opposition is then determined as that would decide which gets it, if it's done on the basis of most votes it will still be Labour
I have a feeling this might happen.

Apparently labour is expecting 100 council seat losses, mostly marginals obviously, with strongholds having no real vote losses

Greens and Socialists, yes. It probably wouldn't work if the Liberals merged too TBH. The Liberals bridge the gap between Labour and the Tories.

But you need to start small to get bigger. A dominating bunch of small parties isn't good for the electorate.

Yeah, I suppose so. I agree that a dominating bunch of smaller parties is detrimental; it's likely to cause more harm than good.

Other sources suggest labour could lose around 500 seats in total

Oooo, reports of low turnout despite the good weather, so London may be less red than expected and obviously the Tories better everywhere

Turnout lowered in Barnet because of this morning and the wrong registers.

Unless it's a nationwide thing the register issues will make little difference.

I wonder if the turnouts are considered low because in PCC only wards the turnout will be awful, in 2012 the turnout for PCCs was only 14% and I doubt it will be much better this time where there aren't also council elections.

The PCC turnout is a valid factor I agree. At least in those elections if you turned up as a registered voter you were not turned away. Unlike the Chief Rabbi and others in Barnet who have effectively been disenfranchised. ironically it may harm the Tories whose party runs Barnet Council.

The main reason I didn't bother voting today is it is only PCC for me, safe seat and I don't believe in the position existing, it's another pointless level of politicians
