I think that's how it works now - I may be wrong. Someone can correct me.

EDIT: Is there still a 2 week email now?

    personally, i didn't get a 2 week email, I got straight a 7 week email.
I sent mine on 26th of November.

At this point I think tracking the application rounds isn't worth it, it may as well go like this
1.Confirmation email saying that an application has been received and that the application will be looked over

2.Email saying that you have the sufficient qualifications and will be compared to others

3a. If you have a one in a billion application you may be given an offer

3b. Rejection email saying you don't stand up to other candidates

3c. Email saying you are one of the strongest candidates and that a high calibre application such as yours must be examined further

    4a. Rejection

    4b. Offer
Hm that'd not be idiot. But then, what about that post on page 138?

    That's crazy!

I got the "strongest application", then after 53 minutes:

We previously sent you an email regarding an update on your application in error. We apologise for this and have provided you with the correct update below.

I am writing with further information on your application to study at LSE.

I am pleased to tell you that, following a thorough assessment of your application, our Admissions Selector has decided that your application is being considered further.

When assessing an application such as yours, we need a little more time to assess you against other candidates in your cohort. Therefore, we would like to consider your application alongside all other similar applications in a fair and proper manner with the aim of informing you of the outcome of our assessment by the beginning of February 2014 at the latest.

For less than one hour I was "one of the strongest", now... they don't even describe me

There's more to know that what we know by now, let's not make false assumptions. Carefully waiting is, I think, the best thing we can do. Have a good day

    Thanks,
I think a lot depends on what your SAT scores were. If you think that they're impressive, then by all means let them know - it can only strengthen an already good application.
