    i dont know where people are getting quadratic formula stuff from on q8 part b i just found two factors (4cosx+30 and (cosx-1). is thi wrong

cosx=(1/8)\pm\frac{sqrt(16k+1)}{8}
    Answer for cosx in terms of k. You get it by completing the square.

    So, the geometric series one where you had to find a and r.

    I wrote down both equations, then did about a page's worth of rearranging and trying to make it work. Ended up with some disgusting cubic. Any idea if I'll get any method marks?

    no they asked you the gradient of the tangent, a tangent to any point on a circle in perpendicular
    therefore..
    gradient of radius was: -2
    normal: 1/2
    therefore equation of tangent at the point A:
    x-2y-14=0
