oh and one more thing, i think in the USA you would call them 'liberals' its the liberlas who hate america, conservatives, and more importantly those who couldnt give a flying toss about politics (90% of the population) go on about how much they love amerirca and want to live there when theyre older thinking its the most amazing place in the world - im sure its nice but seriously learn that in every forum there is going to be a very homogenous population.

eg on a TV forum you tel them youre american and theyll jizz themselves

    i love america
Conservaties? I'm sorry I think my use of a "conservative" earlier in one of my post was misleading. When I said conservative I wasn't exactly refering to a body. It is more like a personality here. Many of us in Alaska say the word conservative to refer to those that are kind, don't associate in drama, etc. It's kind of hard to explain what the word means to me since I grew up using it differently than many others.

Also, I wouldn't say 90% of the population loves America or doesn't care about what's going on. I know many people that love the countries communities, but not out government. I also know of many people that are sick and tired of our governments politicians so they refuse to watch the news. It really isn't my place to speak for the whole of America though. The only thing I can say that 90% isn't exactly the number that's appropriate for the statement but I know it's not 0% either.

Ick, by the way I am sorry if my thoughts are completely off topic. I think I've been on this website for a lot more hours than I should be.

I'm studying abroad at UEA next semester. One of my main goals is to give the U.S. a better name abroad. I'd like to think I'm not stupid.
youll find your country has a very good reputation, 'everyone' here grows up wishing they were american with the sun, hugeee houses and all the other stuff in films.

but of course there are always going to be those intrested in politics (most aarent) who may be liberals and they arent just going to change their dogmatic opinions after being proven wrong - a bit like religion really. so just leave them to continue whinging about how much they hate america, stick to non-political/conservative/non-bigoted friends

it makes my blood boil when i hear all these similar smears about israel but after winning every debate ive ever got into about israel i am satisfied at being more enlightened by those who refuse to accept israel is a good country

2 and 3 you must hate your own country too then, and just about every country which has, in its history attempting to conquer another land?
I'm not sure if this sub-par attempt at wisecracking deserves a response, but I have a lot of free time so why not.

I'm not sure if you read number 2, but it says in the last 100 years. I can't keep on blaming countries for things they did millenia ago, but I think it's fair to take into consideration their actions in more contemporary times (hence 100 years). In the last 100 years, except for the USSR, Nazi Germany, and perhaps China, no other nation has caused so much death, suffering and violence for its own benefit.

As for number 3, again the Gulf War is happening now, the last war Spain started was with itself almost a century ago.

Satisfied? Not that I really care if you are.

    Liar.

In any case if people switched nationalities for sunshine, huge houses and appearances in films they'd all want to be Colombian drug traffickers, not US citizens.

so after 100 years you refresh your opinion of a country? why 100 years exactly? how about refreshing it after each change of government (Y)

ps nato is still in afghanistan so you must hate all nato countries

and as for saying you hate america for its religious fanatics - you must hate the entire of the middle east and africa too. and the whole of south ameirca. and the whole indian subcontinent.

    Conclusion. Your a jackass
Id rather they didn't care what i think. Thankfully we don't have an intrusive act like The Patriots Act to keep tabs on our personal lives 24/7.

I wouldn't want to see any civillians killed but to intentionally wipe out an entire city and generations is unforgivable. They 'supposedly' posted leaflets warning that they were going to bomb, yeah right .

George Bush becoming President was not democracy. (Well not in Florida anyway! )

I don't think portraying Americans as stupid or ignorant is a stereotype. You only have to see the change of attitude in post 9/11 towards muslims to see their ignorance and stupidity. (Ground Zero 'Mosque' debate)

The right to bear arms = Columbine Massacare and Virgina Tech, sounds pretty stupid to me. You can be old enough to shoot someone to death before you reach the age of drinking alcohol.

The gun/school situation happens every week. Did you watch the news this week? Even the Armish community are not safe and they keep to their own.

Lol, I do admit that there are definitely some scary religious fanatics. A couple months ago when I was driving to an airport there was this man on a street corner with a miniature stage and stereo system yelling out to the drivers about how we need to repent and bow down to Jesus the savior. I know it's not supposed to be funny, but I couldn't help but laugh because the guy was acting so ridiculous and saying such odd things. I didn't even know it was legal to set up post with a microphone and stereo at a street light.

    Cute.

But wrong again, because on TV the parents were always forgetting their kids at home. These kids would then be attacked by paedo robbers.

I don't know about your childhood, but mine was certainly better than that.

You aiming for some kind of fail record?

    ...

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind going over to America on holiday or something but to live there? No way.

So many reasons really, I just generally detest the culture. I dislike the obsessive patriotism that just causes trouble, Americans just can't seem to be able to back down.

There's actually way too many to list, someone made a list earlier and that only covers a fraction.

And besides, when your teenagers learn to stop insulting anyone they hear with a British accent and mentioning the war of independence/tea drinking/yellow teeth, then I might just give you guys a shot at not hating you. But I don't see that happening, it seems to deeply rooted.

Roughly 100 years. You're nitpicking to not have to actually come up with arguments and its very easy to see through. How about you mind your own business?

P.S. Nato didn't start the war in Afghanistan, that aside I've never mentioned the war in Afghanistan as I feel it can be justified, unlike its Iraki contemporary.

When have I said I hate America? If you can quote me on that I'll get a tattoo with your username. However, if you can't, then you have to accept you've failed again.

I didn't realize how much people from different countries absolutely hate and resent the country that I absolutely love until I came across a post in this student website.

I know I am going to get bashed for this post, but I am already aware of that and am fine with that fact since I just want to understand other countries views.

I am American and I do know that our country isn't the best, but I am still proud to be born and raised here. For all of those who dislike me just because I am one, all I have to say is that you should really travel to see our country, to meet people here our different communities and backgrounds, and just to get to know more us instead of bashing us head on. I apologize for my rambling on, but if you were in my position what would you think? say? or even do?

I want to know what you dislike about my country and why? Please don't be too harsh, I am not trying to insult or piss off anyone. I am merely asking the question to understand peoples views and hear different opinions.
Most people think America is ok. I like the people, but people take up opposition to some USFP.

One of the few things i like about your country is Alaska.

I hear they pay you $1000-$2000 a year if your a citizen planning to stay there indefinitely.
