Why? What I'm seeing from the BBC and Reddit, the consensus is that it is as a good thing, the coup that is.
Because inevitably there's going to be resistance, and once there's resistance, there's bloodshed. Whatever the outcome, people are going to be killed. :/

I'm against the coup regardless of what erdogan has done.
Get rid of him via the ballot box, not the coward's way.

It may be a good thing for some. However you cannot deny there is quite a few people who will be worried and confused to whats happening.

    Fair point
Protests or military force can only make the situation even more messy.

BBC has always been hypocritical in reporting news about us, dont believe them about news on Turkey.

But one thing is for sure if erdogan remains a lot of military command both senior and mid level will either be imprisoned or tried. And I don't think Turkey can afford the loss of such senior/experienced people.

An F-16 has reportedly shot down a helicopter that was supporting the forces leading the coup.

Apparently that rebel gunship that was firing at the military command building has been shot down by f16s.

    Me too
Too early to tell, but Alhamdulillah the situation is looking better.

Also, very interesting to see how many people on this forum advocate democracy yet are supporting the coup.

Turkey seems to have two choices, kill Erdogan or have purges like Stalin had after this.
