Yes! :-) The nicest thing about Wolfson accom is that if you don't spend the holidays in Cam, you can move your stuff into college storage and not pay for your room - this saved me about 600 pounds over the Christmas holidays. You can also do this for other breaks - can be quite a savings!
Wow! I suspected something like this upon reading the contract but the fact that you can store your things at Wolfson is great. Do you feel like there is enough accomodation for all Wolfson students? Or is there a large number of College members that have to live off-site? I'm asking because I might struggle to meet all deadlines with the Admissions Office, so might not get my accomodation form in very early (probably in early August). Thanks!

Hey guys, about two weeks ago, I had my interview with a potential supervisor and during the process, he didn't promise or say anything positive regarding my acceptance. Just went through general interview questions and that was it. Did anyone had a similar experience & still received an offer? Now I'm deadly nervous about the result.

All they could tell me was that I don't need to/can't submit additional supporting material, which I found odd because someone applying in April had 5 months to get extra experience compared to my submitting the application in December. Nothing about when they'd start to work through the MRC applicants or how long it would take, though.

I've had no contact with the supervisor at all - I have a feeling he was allocated randomly on application, perhaps roughly based on what I indicated in the application in terms of my interests. It should have no effect on what you can choose to do in terms of projects - I've a feeling the supervisor as allocated during the application process is more of a pastoral role than anything.
Well my listed supervisor in the emailed offer is the current course director, so I'm inclined to say that everyone for this MPhil was listed with the same supervisor until they have finalised things within the department.

I'm delighted to have my offer, but now the nerves are steadily building about the MRC studentships. I don't know how many are allocated each year/what the competition will be like Although it might just be me being paranoid, as I don't think they would advertise the position as a Studentship if they didn't have enough to support the number of successful applicants.

I just received an e-mail from a professor within the department I am applying to regarding a request for a brief interview/conversation and stated they have looked at my application with "interest." This has to be a positive sign, right? Please?

I didn't turn in my accommodation forms until August... and was fine. A really good friend of mine almost didn't accom and got it last minute. You'll be fine - just turn it in as soon as you can.

You might end up in a smaller room/shared set (2 small bedrooms, one bathroom, one kitchen) - but no big deal. I'm in a shared set - it's fine. Small, but fine.

Personally, I'd go private accom if you're doing a PhD/are here for more than 9 months. For a small room, you'll pay about 500 pounds per month in college. You can pay an extra 20 pounds and not be stuck in a small room with a single bed (aka, large room, double bed, in private accom). But if you're doing an MPhil, just live in college since it's a short course! The fact that you dont pay rent when you dont live here is nice if you're an Mphil - but you're usually living here year round when you're a PhD.

Woohooo, I totally forgot to mention it here but I was accepted to the MPhil Social & Developmental Psychology the day before yesterdaaaay! It's been such a long wait, I can't believe it's over (well, this part anyways haha)!!! For all of you who're still waiting and interested in my timeline:

    Application submitted: January 6, 2016
Under consideration of department: around February 12 until basically May 9. :afraid:
Degree committee: May 9-May 11 (I only checked on the 11th so perhaps even shorter)
    BoGS: May 11
    Offer made: May 12

It's incredible how fast the last stages were! I received my official letter of admission via email yesterday.
At the moment, my CamSiS states "under consideration of college", so I'm curious about the outcome. I applied 1st choice to St. John, 2nd choice to Newnham. Do you guys think there is any chance at all that I'm admitted to St. John's or is it already oversubscribed and are my chances 0 cause I received such a late offer? I applied there mainly because of their graduate scholarships, but I cannot win any of them now anyways right, cause the deadline has already passed I believe.. Or are there scholarships that are still open by St. Johns?

Anyways, goodluck to all of you who are still waiting! Don't give up cause as you can see from my timeline: it can take a looooong time before you hear something, but it might be worth the wait!
    Hey -

i have emailed st. Johns and asked about the membership in their college in the middle of april, and even then they sadly said to me that they are already full and closed for the entrances.

    Hi,

Back in January, I had the same experience: 10 minutes interview, two professors (one being my potential supervisor), three standard questions ("what skill do you think you will need to acquire in the course of this PhD", etc.). Not a positive word, though they seemed satisfied with my answers.
Ten days later I was accepted.
So it is possible that your potential supervisor just went through the interview as a formality, and then preferred to keep it short. I would guess that, in theory, they would prefer to spend more time and ressources on candidates they are less sure about.

Archaeology MPhil at St Edmunds here! Any other archaeology people not been assigned a supervisor yet?

Also, should I be expecting the college to contact me anytime soon?

    And of course congratulations everyone!

Haven't been assigned one yet - though I guess it's because my offer isn't 'confirmed' yet (which is a matter of formality as I expect to receive my final undergraduate transcript/diploma within weeks). My college told me they'd be in touch as soon as they received the confirmation from the BOGS
