Don't worry, thanks for taking the time to explain anyway .

I don't know about other parts of England, but a few years ago they were called 'townies' and not 'chavs'... that may be just a rural thing though.

Well, if others use it, it can't be too weird. Never heard it outside The Thread though.
    No problems.

People you have it all wrong, townie isnt another name for chav. Townie is a slang term for someone from the town, cultie (pronounced culchee) is a name for someone from the country side. Generally town and cultie is used to show the difference in strengths of accent and where they live, thats all. Just because you are from the town doesn't mean you are a chav, though people from cities generally tend to.

Thats the definition for them over here anyways, sorry for the late reply btw, was going home there

Why are you having a go at leala?

Who the hell do you think you are? I've read the thread you're talking about. She gave encouraging, friendly reassurance in good faith, and you've taken offence to it for some reason - rather than explaining why like a civilised person, not only do you neg her, you invade our thread just to rub it in her face. You are everything that is wrong with this site, please go away.

Back at school we used to use 'townie' to refer to the wannabe-gangsta types instead of 'chav', before 'chav' was popularised.

Although I negged you earlier, with good reason.

I am not at all pleased.

If you send it to me, I'll help you write it. Make sure you include your home address and phone number in it though.
    Who the hell* are you?

You see, we need the townie/cultie slang words, as there is a different between the two, but its not the same as chav/non chav. Having said that, the difference between a townie and a cultie means one lives in a village or town with about 5,000 people in it maximum, compared to the countryside. Compared to England, everything is rural over here :p:

I see; we didn't need to make the town/country distinction.

Basically, leala is the loveliest person ever, and anyone who says otherwise will get the full force of the thread's anger (and negrep).
