I converted the cm and the um into meter, (x10^-2cm) and (x10-6um) but when i measure from X to Y I get 2.2cm, am i measuring it wrong or my ruler is trolling me .

(4.9 x 10^-2) / ( 20 x 10^-6) = x2450

so my units are right but my measurment of the image is not right..
your paper won't be to scale with the actual exam paper our school made us a book let and it's either 0.5 bigger or 0.5 smaller so you'll be fine in the exam

in the jan 13 paper
9b

about standard deviation
the answer is
differences are real/significant
as bars do not overlap

what do we need to know about standard deviation and mean
what does the overlap / sinfigicance mean??
thanks
SD show the spread of the mean values which are calculated for a more reliable result, if the SD bars overlapp this means the data is likely to be due to chance.

True Asian with the three sciences :')

I've got psychology on Wednesday as well, can't wait to get this all out of the way though?

mmm the calculation questions out me off!
I do German and Arabic, which breaks the rule.

Psychology looks really interesting, good luck with it!

I loved the chem1 calculations, that's one thing I was confident about. I didnt like some of the molecules and drawing shapes stuff.

Do you study maths?

Crossing over due to exchange of homologous portions , independent segregation so not always the same division , random fusion of gametes

Posted from TSR Mobile

Thanks but I can't see that being 6 marks. Do you think they just ask what are they causes if variation? If so what would you include?

Please how would you answer 6 mark question how does meiosis lead to genetic diversity?

Posted from TSR Mobilehh
By crossing over - chromatids of homologous chromosomes twist around one another and due to tension portions of chromatids break off and rejoin with chromatrids of homologous partner (recombination) this produces four different cells increasing genetic diversity.
Independent segregation - each chromosome lines up against its homologous partner in meiosis 1 and when they arrange themselves they do so randomly and one of each pair will go to each daughter cell, the combination of chromosomes that goes into the daughter cell is random so therefore increases genetic diversity.

Don't know if thats 6 marks but there's only 2 ways in meiosis you can increase genetic diversity i think - hope it helps

is this right?:
when talking about air entering stomata- its down the diffusion gradient
when talking about water entering the root hair cells- its down the conc grad
when talking about water entering leaf from xylem- its down the water potential gradient

YES EXACTLY , on all the past papers I did I was not getting the right result for magnification questions, I printed of the papers as multiple with four pages on one page to save paper.

Thanks
