    on Q8 I forgot how to differentiate 3^x, so i rearrange y = 3^x to lny = xln3,so when differentiated i got dy/dx = xy/3 so dy/dx = 6, which gave me the tangent line y = 6x -3, which looked right on the diagram. I dont understand how this made me get such different answers as no logs included. Please can someone tell me if/what i have done wrong and if i would still get any method marks?

    I'd guess up until the substitution to get the quadratic, there would be 2 method marks, then 2 marks for obtaining the values of x then the last 2 for getting the y values and stating the coordinates

    you should be able to get the 'method marks' for the second part but you'd lose the accuracy mark. How much Method/accuracy marks are annotated is a mystery however.

    Sorry, I wouldn't have picked up on it if I knew. If it's any consolation, I make hundreds of ridiculous claims and errors when I do work even at undergraduate level.
