I'd go for around 43-44 raw. I think a lot of people would have struggled with the spirometer questions, as well as the essay on the last page, and a couple of other questions were a tad ambiguous. Overall a fairly easy paper.

What do you guys reckon will be the raw mark for full UMS? Would you say this was easier/harder than previous years?
I'm thinking 42-44 raw marks, not as hard as some years, but a lot of the questions were pretty vague so I think the grade boundaries might be lowered slightly for that.

how would anyone get an exam scheme so early? Don't they get published like a year after or something?

Well, usually it's maybe one month or two months afterwards. Generally, schools and teachers have them available when the results are released.

For the mammalian gaseous exchange thing for 5 marks...is it OK if i have mentioned the following points,
many alveoli - large surface area abt 1 micrometre thick
plasma membrane outside of cell cytoplasm forms a barrier to exchange - readily allows C02 and O2 to diffuse across
the alveolus wall is 1 cell thick and so is the capillary wall
both wall consist of squamous epithelium
the alveolus wall in contact with capillaries
the size of capillary the same as the diameter of RBC so RBC gets squeezed as they pass along capillaries to give up O2, reducing the diffusion path to tissues

I am not sure if this is the correct stuff but how many marks would I get for all this??? Anyone any idea? Someone quote me plz...

nah it was how much percent is made up of the nuclear divis (pmat) which was only 18%, with the rest being like G1 and G2 or something like that

... i think
Yeah that sounds right, Interphase consists of Growth Phase 1 where cells grow after mitosis, DNA synthesis S segement and Growth Phase 2 before division again. Then Mitosis , M phase takes up a small percent of the cell life cycle outside of Interphase ~18% of time so if you got 88 or something that is waaaaaay to big.

I'd probably agree, some of the questions weren't entirely based on knowledge eg. calculating the rate of oxygen uptake.( at least for me). So while the required knowledge part for the exam was on average easy, apart from the last question. There were a few questions that i think would throw people so i wouldn't be surprised with 42-44 Raw.
