They do have holidays and they often go to places like Monte Carlo to network and move up in their career.

Plus, if the investment banker is clever, they will work for maximum 10-15 years then retire to become a teacher or something while having a huge nest egg.

Yeah that's what I would do if I was more of a hard worker. I have the brains, but I'm too lazy to do well at uni.

The thing that puts me off wanting to go to America is that they have very few paid holidays.

I guarantee you that it isn't. I actually know Aiden personally and he is exactly like that. Plus as a friend of his on Facebook, all the stuff I've seen on the show so far was posted throughout the year.
He looks like such a donut. That is the type of people I want to avoid.

I'm a bit like Lauren in the terms that I don't drink(health reasons)..but if i still socialise with my flatmates and go out with them and drink lemonade or something will I end up being like her and sat crying by myself? I'll join in with their drinking games just with water or lemonade... Idk I feel really nervous now.

Well if you have a genuine reason for not drinking and are sociable you will be fine

Why must there be a "genuine reason"? Is a health or religious reason the only acceptable "genuine reason"? Is alcohol so wonderfully amazing that personally choosing not to drink equates to some sort of madness?

I don't think the problem with Lauren is that she doesn't drink, it was more she had what looked like Social Anxiety Disorder coupled with some need for attention (it's an oxymoron I know).

You'll notice that Hassan doesn't drink either and he seems fine socially. Stop bringing the issue with Lauren down to the fact that she simply doesn't drink. It's irritating.

(I drink in the same way as most of the students on there i.e. too much on a night out, but I don't imply there's something "wrong" with those that don't).

Maybe my choice of words was slightly ill-judged but in my experience very few people who completely abstain from alcohol through choice completely fit in socially. It's all very well going to predrinks, but almost inevitably they'll retire early because of being sober around drunk people. I think to fit in socially when you don't drink you have to be a very very confident person

Hi Secret Life of Students fans, I've just posted five things freshers could learn from five of the students from the show here on the TSR website.

    http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/cont...fe-of-Students

Do give it a read and tell me what you think of my article! Hope it's useful for anyone preparing to go to uni in the autumn!

I think universities should be held accountable for some of the behaviour, as well as local clubs and bars. Alcohol promotion is shoved down our throats, when we have a binge drinking issue in the country. Then we get people such as Lauren, and those who don't drink for whatever reason, who feel completely isolated. I enjoy alcohol, but I couldn't drink every night or get drunk like they promote in freshers or these Carnage events.

Maybe if we didn't promote it so much then we wouldn't see some of the irresponsible behaviour as seen in the show. It's about time the universities actually organised alternative activities to drinking every night. Then those who don't drink can fit in better, it can be discrimination at times especially those with medical issues.

It'll be interesting to meet the mature student in tonight's episode; she's the eldest of the students picked for the show she's also a student parent so she lives at home! It'll be interesting to see how is she portrayed as some of my uni friends from my foundation year are student parents, they managed to cope and get good grades
