Schalke have been good in europe this season. They will give Man Utd or Chelsea a run for their money especially on the German leg.

Just seen the first goal as well, such a promising start, gutting.

You got any idea who you're targeting defensive wise, if anyone, in the summer, Charz?
As voodoo said, Ranochia is considered the future of Inter but he can only play and learn with an experienced quality CB partner next to him playing regularly like Samuel or Lucio, not the likes of Cordoba or Chivu.

Im not sure if they are targetting any centre backs in the summer, they apparently have a lot of cover in that position but evidently not enough quality.

I never understood why Benitez was sacked after something like four or five months. How can you build a team in that time? The injuries explain a lot-something I wasn't aware of-especially to players as intrinsic to the team as Lucio, Milito and Sneijder.

Oh well. I'm sure they'll sort themselves out.

Are they second at the moment then?
Rafa wasnt getting on with Inter President Massimo Moratti and his eventual outburst after the World Club Final sealed his fate.

They are second at the moment but they just got beat 3-0 by AC Milan this past weekend who are top so its not been a good week for Inter

That game was similar to the first half of the second Bayern-Inter game, except this time the Germans actually converted their chances. Every time Schalke progressed into the attacking third the Inter players stood off the attackers by at least 2 metres, giving them all the time they wanted to play some attractive combination football. The same problem occured at the weekend during the derby. Leonardo really is hilariously inept at defensive coaching.

I'll say it again: this is the team last season that achieved a 0-0 against Sampdoria while playing with 9 men for most of the game, and held out against the best attacking side in the world at their own ground, again with a numerical disadvantage. That such a cohesive defensive unit has collapsed so spectacularly in less than a year is astonishing.

Oh okay, so it's not been an utterly disastrous season then-just a below par one...

    Opta Joe from last night.

36 - Madrid had 36 shots (inc. blocked) against Spurs tonight, the most by any side in the CL since Milan v Celtic in March 2007. Thrust.
    (Original post by Opta Joe)
14 - Cristiano Ronaldo had 14 shots v Tottenham, the most by a player in the CL since Kaka had 15 for AC MIlan v Celtic in 2006-07. Peppered
Shame they never beat them

We still took them to extra time! Then Kaka skinned pretty much every player of ours and stuck it in the back of the net not long after the restart. :sigh:

Ronaldo had something like 15 shots against Deportivo a few weeks ago, mental how many shoots he takes.

Ronaldo has had the most shots taken in La Liga, in fact Marca had a comparison between him and Messi and these were the stats (shots on target in brackets).

    Shots
    Messi: 127 (70)
    Ronaldo: 206 (78)

He's had 27 appearances which makes it 7.6 shots a game. Close enough
