fractional indices
it takes me a long time to fully understand methods and how to solve problems and in AS maths everyone works at a super fast pace whilst im left struggling with the basics.

Can anyone recommend websites and books for edexcel??

Brilliant!! Also fractional indices... Just remember the general rules:

a^(1/2) = Square Root of a
a^(1/3) = Cubed Root of a
a^(2/3) = (Cubed Root of a)^2

So it's the denominators root of the base... Eg 1/4 means the fourth root from four... All to the power of the numerator, which would be 1..

25^(3/2) = (Root25)^3

= 125

64^(2/3) = (CubeRoot64)^2

= 16
1

That is an excellent website. The "^" sign means raised to that power. For example, x^2 means 'x squared' and x^3 means 'x cubed' and so on.

You'll get used to working with fractional indices. Don't get disheartened and just keep at it and it'll all come together. Don't focus too much on what other people are doing - we all have our own pace.

Yep, I'm gonna do some practise Q's on fractional indices tonight, so hopefully I'll get the hang of it.
Its just frustrating for me to be lagging behind in class when other people seem to effortlessly understand.
But I will be working hard at home so hopefully soon it'll all 'click' and I'll be able to keep up the pace in class.

Sorry, I'll add you to my contacts now so you can PM me if you like. I'm not actually on as often as I was due to college, but I'll get back to any PMs as promptly as I can.

My biology teacher is really starting to annoy me. He goes off on a tangent and we haven't learned a thing all week - third lesson and he's only gone through two pages of our homework! Everyone in the class is getting annoyed.
Plus, it's so upsetting seeing everyone in their friendship groups when mine are at sixth form while I'm at college.

£50 for the two books I needed.
(Original post by Choppie)
It's just over £100 for the maths books I need (C1, C2, S1), and a graphical calculator
£50 for two?! Oh dear.

And yeah, I need C2 as well soon but for now I only need C1, S1, Phys 1, Bio 1 and Chem 1. Will be getting the 2's soon...
