It took me a whole 20 minutes to figure out that I'd need to apply the difference of two squares for that trig question!

However, I felt that paper challenged me in very similar way to how June 2014 did, so I'd anticipate similar grade boundaries (probably 1/2 marks lower).

I was so happy when I worked that out

nope one to many. one x value will give you many y values

oh and the question was asking why it wont be a function
You wrong he's right.

I used 3.1 as well and still got 13.9 (because y=17-x).
same but if you subbed it into the other equation you get 14. something

i used the other formulae tho ie. y=2^(x+1)-3

is that alright>

For the values of k where there are no solutions I got the inequalities the wrong way round but with the right values would I still get 1 mark out of 2.

I probably misunderstood the way he phrased his response, we're both correct.

The question was asking why the inverse of the function does not exist.

you can say either

the function g(x) is many to one
or
the inverse g-1(x) would be one to many thus not a function.

Probably will be B1 B1 tbh, so unlikely.

If you misread a question how many marks do you get?

Do you think 65/66 would be an A?

The question asked why there wasn't an inverse function... And it is many-one, not one-many

Can any guess what raw mark a B would be?
50 to 51 out of 75

Oh sorry I misunderstood what you said. Yes I think you will be right, I remember seeing something similar in a mark scheme

Would just writing it is not a one-to-one function get me the mark?
