In other news, what a depressing weekend for football. Pilley, Harry-2-strokes and Fatty Evans all winning their play-off games. Tax dodging, aggressive beeps the lot of them. Hope they're all banned from football ASAP.
At the risk of converting this thread into the football league thread once again. It has indeed been an awful week, now we've got to play against Rovrum next season

Oh yeah - I like Rotherham as a club, and wanted them to go up because their Yorkshire!
I just can't stand that heart-attack-waiting-to-happen beep who manages them!

Also glad fleetwood have been promoted, as it should prevent the financial distortion of league 2 now. Last year we went in for Ryan Cresswell, nearly had him signed up, then fleetwood apparently offered him a deal on 3.5 times what we were offering, and that was their 'opening gambit'.
Looking forward to next season. Apparently we're about to re-sign Jonathan Greening. Probably as player coach.
How are things looking down at Oxford?
Me too, was always impressed with their football in League 2 and we have three ex-Rotherham captains in our squad now. Yeah he's pretty shocking, but he gets the job done, interesting if they can make it three back to back promotions, imagine them in the Premier League with Evans?!

I would have preferred Burton, Southend or even York, as Fleetwood have no fan-base, but as you say it should help bring some parity to the league.

Oooh interesting, there are rumours that we are signing Sergio Torres as James Constable's replacement, but that might turn out to be a speculation. A free scoring striker is especially needed now Kitson has retired also.

But what else do people talk about over a pint?!
    Haha, good luck with that.

I've got nothing against his management style, just the fact he swore at a kid in the family stand in the York - Crawley game, was then sent off, and punched the steward who tried to get him to leave the dugout. Add to that his tax evasion, and you have a nasty piece of work. Would be amazing if they managed it, but I don't think they're good enough.

Burton don't have much of a fan base to be fair. For the final today, there were 14,000 people there. That, frankly, is a disgrace, for what is potentially the biggest match in the history of these clubs. Certainly Fleetwood.
All to be taken with liberal amounts of salt, of course, but he apparently asked worthington if he could sign in january and have a 'only paid if you play' contract. But we couldn't sort it out. He still comes to watch most matches when he can though, and still lives in York. We're going back to all our legends at the moment. Greening, the guy he was best man for, Cresswell (now our 'director of football in all but name) and Andy MacMillan who's returned to lead our academy. Just time to bring back Kiely as keeper coach and we're sorted

Ooh - that would be a good signing for you! Must have freed up some considerable wages with them 2 gone now

Hate Fleetwood as a club, no history and just a load of investors paying their way to the top. Just looked at their average attendances year on year, shocking.

Yep. Disgraceful club. They brought 260 'fans' for the play off semi final at or place this year. That has to be some sort of record for league 2!

I was/am expecting someone from the Green party to run. Miser since he stepped down looked ideal, anyone reckon that SLF will try again?
Nope, I've withdrawn from the house a fair bit, I have a browse now and then but I'm not involved enough to consider running for speaker

Embarrassing. I can see them just going bust in a few years. It's what's happening with some of these clubs, they get a bit of money, spend beyond their means, get promoted but then they implode due to the overspending in previous seasons. It's frustrating for clubs because the only teams that seem to do well are the ones spending beyond their means.

In fairness, mac is a small town - they're bound to have a small following. I don't see the issue with them - they've spent money, but they've had a great rise, and I don't think the bankrolling should detract from where they've come from, like hoffenheim over in Germany

I reckon it could be next season. They were abject today. They'll have to revamp the whole squad to compete in league 1. They'll try and attract good players, but agents know the club has money. Attendances and merchandise sales won't increase that much, so it will all come from Pilley. Alexander is a godawful manager, so he'll be sacked after a while. meaning more pay outs. If they then get relegated, Pilley will pull out, the bubble will go pop, and the club will end up back in north western isthmian league or whatever it's called where they belong with their 80 fans.

How could it NOT detract from where they've come from?! None of it has been thanks to the fans, the players or managers. It's just a rich guy deciding he wanted a bit of fun while he uses the club to pay massively reduced levels of tax. How they can't a disgrace is beyond me!
You're almost sounding like some of their Jeremy Kyle show fans! 'We're a small town, we took 4000 to wembley, but it's about 20% of our population, that makes us a well supported club'. So that fact Madrid took about 0.1% of it's population to the champions league final makes them a poorly supported club? Sorry, but they are a disease in football

I shan't name names as i want the people in question to demonstrate their own initiative by standing but the socialist in question is not SLF but has demonstrated suprising pragmatism (that's not to say he's got my vote).

Too early. It's my first term on here, and I've only been on TSR since February! Having said that, it's a shame Toronto doesn't want the main job, because I would consider deputy now. Speaker though will have to wait until at least next term (of course this depends on how good Jarred's replacement is).

I don't like Fleetwood for buying the league, but what's so important about the fanbase? Despising a team for not having a huge following sounds a bit petty.

Hmm... He was second on my list of four, I thought that Rakas's hint implied that it was a newer member.

Plastic fans, I know it's inevitable but I can't stand it personally.

I'm flattered guys, but I honestly don't want the Speakership - I'm very happy as the deputy Speaker.

Not the size that means I hate them, though that bothers me, it's the fact that they think they're so great because of the league they are in, and they think it's thanks to them, when it's clearly thanks to their millionaire owner. Add to that they don't go to away matches, which is pathetic and unfair on other teams, and finally, they pretend they've been fans for ages, which quite clearly they haven't. Up until 5 years ago 90% of them were blackpool fans. They're just everything that's wrong with football - the club, manager, players and fans, and I hope it all goes horribly wrong for them.

Hello everyone, i am new to the student room and am interested in politics. I found this forum and was wondering if you had a Green Party. I voted for them in RL and am hoping to talk with like minded people on here If you could point me in the correct direction i would appreciate it.
