efficient gas exchange requires:
large SA
moistness
short diffusion pathway
large concentration gradient
Water provides a medium in which oxygen can be transported. Therefore as oxygen is used, the removal of water replaces the previous water molceules with water that has oxygen. This therefore creates a constant diffusion gradient. How about this guy's?

It reduces the diffusion pathway as it is drawn deeper in the tracheoles
Yes, that's what I meant. When it is drawn into the muscles it reduces the diffusion pathway, but otherwise it increases it

Hard to predict grade boundaries, some people handle HSW well and some don't. Judging from here I reckon it'll be about 60 for an A? Idk though, too hard to guess with this paper.

You mean decreasing because the question said something about use of agriculture

No, that's what you learn in GCSE but it's wrong
Moisture is bad
It takes longer for gases to dissolve through liquids than it does through air

you should do, it's obvious you meant percentage because of the context of the question!

diffusion through membrane faster when gas dissolved in water (thats why alveoli are moist)
http://sg.answers.yahoo.com/question...0231017AAwrI1u

looking on google most places are saying diffusion in air is faster than in water - I may be wrong though.

I did that aswell and if they didn't then that is out of order as they gave you a box so I just wrote 16 in
